Die deutsche Bundesregierung wirkt mittlerweile so, als wolle sie gar keine echten Verhandlungen mehr. Statt jede Chance auf Gespräche zumindest zu prüfen, wird sofort abgeblockt, relativiert oder moralisch bewertet. Dabei sollte in einer Situation, in der jeden Tag Menschen sterben, eigentlich jede Möglichkeit für Diplomatie ernst genommen werden. Ob man Putin vertraut oder nicht, darf nicht wichtiger sein als die Chance, endlich über ein Ende dieses Krieges zu reden.
Seit Monaten hören die Bürger fast nur noch etwas über Waffenlieferungen, Abschreckung und Durchhalteparolen. Aber wo ist der politische Druck für Friedensgespräche? Wo sind die öffentlichen Initiativen Deutschlands für Verhandlungen? Eine Regierung muss mehr können, als nur einen Krieg zu verwalten. Sie muss auch alles dafür tun, ihn zu beenden.
Es wird Zeit, dass die Bundesregierung endlich wieder Diplomatie zur Priorität macht. Denn irgendwann wird sowieso verhandelt werden müssen. Die eigentliche Frage ist nur, warum erst noch tausende weitere Menschen sterben müssen, bevor man bereit ist, jedes Gesprächsangebot ernsthaft anzunehmen.
