@WB_Baskerville It's good to come to grips with your parent's strengths and weaknesses. That's not the same as writing a tell-all to the world about it.
@sfmcguire79 People who have no capacity to distinguish 'working through their own issues' from 'writing for as large a public as I can reach.' They sacrifice all their family's privacy to their own cartoonish sense of self as a writer.
@AnthonyEsolen In the beautiful tradition of Christological glosses incorporated into the OT texts. I once came across a stunning Sarum chant of a passage from Isaiah with a second singer alternating Christological responses and expansions, line by line. Amazing!
@AnthonyEsolen Also, 'vanish' gets five different notes of the melody. It really needs to be a word that can handle that melismatic character. VanQUish doesn't work at all. Va-a-a-ang-QUISH. Argh.
@AnthonyEsolen Garbled and tin-eared. That's such a striking verse: it feels unusual and mysterious (in a way that is intensified in the verse about the six-winged seraph etc.), but it is completely clear and intelligible at the same time. And they just trashed it.
@mattyglesias Vety first reply makes it clear the lede is incorrect about the legal situation. You can always count on the media in these cases. Every single time.
@JamesSurowiecki Yeah, it's never happened before or to any other voting bloc that they got so disconnected from reality. btw, what is with all this stuff about Biden and his mental state prior to the 2020 election...?
@roddreher People looked older, or the people on TV looked more like normal people? I know a lot of guys in upper 30s or early 40s who look basically like this.
@PastorShiflett No baptism. Hmmm. That seems oddly anti-Scriptural. I guess it is more important to be dofferent from those gross Catholics than to listen to Jesus's words in Scripture.
