Here is what the left expected to happen during the World Cup: Europeans were supposed to smirk at us. They were supposed to mock our religion and our guns. They were supposed to turn away in righteous disgust at our abundance and free refills and buffet lines and big trucks and big houses. They were supposed to shake their heads at our supposed lack of culture. They were supposed to see a racist behind every tree and under every rock. They were supposed to catch a glimpse of discord and poverty and hate and perpetual ignorance. And they were supposed to leave here hating this country even more so than when they arrived.
But they didn’t.
They fell in love with us. And by “us,” I mean the real, everyday America. They didn’t go to the Met Gala; they went to Walmart. They didn’t dine at the French Laundry; they ate at Waffle House. They didn’t scoff at bigger portions; they consumed them with glee. They weren’t impressed by Priuses; they were impressed by Ford F-150s. They didn’t sniffily order some 25-syllabled cup of pretention from the local fair trade cafe; they drank American beer, listened to American country music, and ate American bar food. They don’t marvel at inner-city legal drug zones; they marvel at the wide open expanses of American beauty.
They love ranch dressing. They love the military flyovers. They love the gas stations. They love the 24/7 business hours. They love the huge American flags.
In short, everything our visitors love about America is everything the left hates about America. The leftists watch this in paralyzing horror. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Foreigners were supposed to return to their homelands and report that America is exactly what Barack Obama, Michael Moore, and Sasha Baron Cohen told them it was.
But that’s not going to happen now. Because our foreign guests realize that everything their "elites" told them about us has been a disgusting lie. Just like everything our "elites" tell us about ourselves is a disgusting lie.
But the most important lesson I hope the Europeans take home with them is this. Patriotism is a moral virtue. It’s good to be proud of your country. And despite what the government, the public schools, the universities, Hollywood, social media, the elite globalists, and both the domestic and foreign media tell us, Americans are proud of their country. And if visiting Europeans can see through the lie they’ve been sold about America, I hope they can see the lie they’ve been told about themselves.

British warships stationed off Brest lowered their colors to half-mast, honoring the commander who had once led America against Britain. In France, Napoleon Bonaparte ordered a ten-day requiem in Washington's memory.

The tributes reflected the extraordinary reputation Washington had gained overseas. He had defeated one empire, resisted becoming a king, and voluntarily surrendered power twice. Even former enemies recognized that his character had changed how the world viewed leadership.

As someone who grew up in the Muslim world, I’ve seen this pattern repeat itself:

When Muslims are weak and in the minority, they speak endlessly about tolerance, coexistence, and peace.

When the congressman nominating him to West Point sat down to fill out the paperwork, he botched it.

He figured the boy's middle name must be Simpson, his mother's maiden name, and wrote down Ulysses S. Grant.

Grant simply accepted a name and a middle initial that stood for nothing. His classmates noticed those new initials spelled out U.S., started calling him Uncle Sam.

Two decades later the same letters earned him the nickname that stuck for good. After he demanded the immediate capitulation of a Confederate fort, the papers turned U.S. Grant into Unconditional Surrender Grant.

A clerk's mistake became the most famous initials of the war and a name that every American remembers.

This man pointed his own army's cannons at his own house and told them to fire. Then he died so deep in debt that they buried him in a secret unmarked grave so creditors couldn't seize his body. Meet Thomas Nelson Jr.

Nelson was born in 1738 in Yorktown, Virginia, into wealth and comfort. Big planter family, private education, a degree from Cambridge in England. He had the golden life of a Virginia gentleman. He didn't need to gamble any of it.

But he went all in. He signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and unlike a lot of wealthy signers, he didn't just lend his name and stay behind a desk. He put on a uniform. He became a brigadier general and personally led Virginia's militia. And in 1781, his own state elected him governor while the war was raging on Virginia soil.

Then came the moment that made him a legend.

The war climaxed at the siege of Yorktown, his own hometown. British general Cornwallis had taken over the finest house in town as his headquarters, and by the story that comes down to us, that house belonged to the Nelson family. American gunners were reluctant to shell such a beautiful home. Nelson would not allow that hesitation. As the account goes, he told his artillery to aim at it anyway, reportedly even offering a reward to the first gunner to strike it. His own family home. He'd rather see it blown to rubble than let it shelter the enemy. To this day cannonballs are still lodged in the brickwork of the Nelson house in Yorktown.

But the deepest sacrifice wasn't the house. It was his fortune.

When Virginia had no money to arm and feed its troops, Nelson used his own name and his own credit to raise it. He personally borrowed enormous sums, on his own signature, to keep the militia supplied. He believed in it that much. And the government never paid him back. Not the money he raised, not the money he spent.

So the man who bankrolled Virginia's war effort was left financially wrecked. He died in 1789 at just 50 years old, buried under a mountain of debt he'd taken on for his country.

And here's the gut punch. He was buried in an unmarked grave, on purpose, because his family feared that creditors might literally seize his body and hold it as collateral against everything he still owed.

A rich man who fired on his own home, spent his entire fortune to fund a revolution, and was lowered into a hidden grave so debt collectors couldn't get to his corpse.

Thomas Nelson Jr. He gave everything, right down to where he was allowed to rest.

On behalf of the largest police news outlet in the world, we're officially calling for the resignation or termination of this officer IMMEDIATELY.

A female Fort Worth police officer was caught on camera threatening to ticket a retired federal law enforcement officer and Christian street preacher for “offensive speech.”

The officer told the man that if someone is offended by his preaching, then “we have a problem” and said she would issue him a ticket. When he asked if she was really going to ticket him for offensive speech, she replied, “Yes, I am.”

This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. Police officers do not have the authority to ticket people for speech that offends others. That is the exact opposite of how freedom of speech works in America.

The fact that this officer targeted a retired federal law enforcement officer who was simply preaching makes this even more unacceptable.

Departments that employ officers who openly disregard the Constitution need to clean house. This kind of behavior erodes public trust and makes every good officer’s job harder.

Pass this along so more people see what is happening on our streets.

Notice the pattern between Biden and Platner, because it is the whole story. In both cases, the primary voters made a choice. In both cases, the party decided, after the fact, that the voters had chosen wrong. And in both cases, the same institution that lectures America about authoritarianism and “threats to democracy” moved heaven and earth to override the expressed will of its own electorate the moment that will became inconvenient. The people who cannot stop saying democracy is on the ballot keep discovering, at the decisive moment, that they trust themselves more than the demos.

If you wonder why they want to “defund the police” or “reimagine” the world…it’s because they don’t like The Law. They hate “The Law.”

Prior to 1789, everything in the world was in flux. People stole land from each other at will. War was common. Borders moved.

“Owning” something, meant you took it and then you held it.

Yes, the US expanded West and took land from Natives, but that was no different than Europe. Borders constantly moved. War and Conquest was the way of the world.

But humans yearned for a better way. At some point in history, this had to stop. And the US Declaration and Constitution were the singular documents (Laws) that stopped it.

It’s true that women and blacks did not have equal rights at first. But The Law eventually fixed that. So, yes, not perfect, but striving to be perfect.

Nonetheless, The Law (Constitution) was put into place at an arbitrary time in history. It sought to freeze the theft and the war and give power to individuals rather than nation states.

With “The Law” individuals owned their own inventions, writings and dreams. In other words, individuals could reimagine the world every day. From that point on, everything was fair.

Those who couldn’t reimagine the world, or who wanted to take from other people rather than create things for their fellow citizens, blamed “The Law” for stopping them.

They think “The Law” was instituted at an unfair time. And they blame “The Law” for the fact that they haven’t succeeded.

The current movement to defund the police, is really an attempt to pierce the Constitution. Stop “The Law”. Go back to a time when lawlessness was the way to “own” things.

Unfortunately, this would stop all progress. It would be the Dark Ages all over again.

Anyone can do anything today in the US. You can create your own future. But that takes work and honesty and virtue. So, if you don’t want to do and achieve those things, you blame “The Law” for stopping you.

It’s not hard. But people constantly look for the easy way out. So, they gaslight the unfairness of the time before the Constitution (or even after it) so that they can return to the same world that it stopped.

The people who want to end “The Law” are worse than the people who wrote “The Law.”
