Lee Brandie is CEO of Storm Energy in the UK, and leading the development of OpenGrid, a peer-to-peer local energy platform transforming how renewable electricity is bought and sold.
🗳️Will Lee get your vote? https://t.co/QE4IdeZ4EI
For those that know me, this is a slightly uncomfortable post for me to write.
I’m not particularly good at asking people to vote for me. So I’m not going to.
Instead, I’d ask you to vote for the idea if you think it is worth backing.
OpenGrid has made the global final of the Shell LiveWire Impact Makers 2026 awards in the Business Innovation category.
There are seven finalists from around the world and, incredibly, OpenGrid is the only entry in our category from Scotland, the UK or Europe.
For something that started in Aberdeen, that feels pretty significant.
So what are we actually trying to do?
In very simple terms, we think electricity should work more locally.
Scotland produces huge amounts of renewable energy, but the way electricity is bought, sold and managed is still largely built around a centralised national system.
OpenGrid is being developed to help change that.
Our aim is to use software and data to connect local renewable generation with local homes and businesses, intelligently match supply and demand, and ultimately allow more of the value created by locally generated energy to stay within the communities and businesses around it.
Generate locally. Use locally. Share locally.
There is still a lot of work to do, but getting a Scottish energy technology into a global final feels like something worth celebrating.
So if that is an idea you would like to see developed further, I’d really appreciate your vote.
Not for me. For the technology, the team behind it and the idea that Scotland can help build the next generation of the energy system.
Voting is open until 24 September 👇

Not long ago, Britain was one of the world’s biggest oil producers, with revenues accounting for six percent of all government revenues in the mid-1980s.

This is why Electrical Safety Inspections matter!
During a recent Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), we discovered this three-phase isolator inside a distribution board.
At first glance, everything appeared to be operating normally. But behind the panel, this is what we found.
A terminal connection had overheated. Over time, a loose or high-resistance connection generates heat.
That heat damages insulation, causes burning, and can eventually lead to arcing or fire.
The equipment was still in service when this was discovered.
The isolator was removed and replaced, the cable re-terminated correctly, and the installation made safe. A potential electrical failure was prevented before it escalated.
Electrical systems rarely fail instantly. They degrade slowly over time.
An EICR is designed to find these issues early — before they become expensive, disruptive, or dangerous.
If your building hasn’t had an electrical inspection in the last 5 years (commercial) or 10 years (domestic), it may be time to review it.
Sometimes the problem is hidden behind a panel door.
Electrical safety is preventative, not reactive.

@elonmusk you might not even see this, but it seems human society always needs an enemy, and right now, you and DJT are at the front of the line. Maybe a strategy could be to expose the real culprits of fraud and corruption and position yourself as the force behind hit. Thoughts?
@RealAlexJones This is just another way for all current serving democrats to continue making their money after trump is in power. ‘No one makes Money during times of peace!!!’
