@Censored4sure It isn't a tiny subset unfortunately.
And anyone who defended KA is indeed part of the problem and negatively impacts how black people as a group are viewed.
No nation should have unrestricted borders nor permit lawlessness.
Not all illegal immigrants are violent criminals. But each one committed a crime in coming to or staying in America illegally, and each violent crime committed by an illegal alien is one that should not have occurred but for poor enforcement or willful refusal to enforce by US authorities.
Every single person who still cringes at the memory of trying to bullshit their way through an interview or exam question: today, the slate is wiped clean. Set down your burden of shame. Nothing - nothing, I say - could touch this.
That policy was adopted to enable "diversity" in admissions, especially to the UC flagships.
The idea was that massive grade inflation in crappy public schools with high numbers of "underrepresented minorities" who
were still grossly academically unprepared would allow DEI advocates to claim that "highly qualified" students based on GPA were being admitted, and exclude...highly academically prepared Asian kids from the top UCs.
As it turned out, as many of us predicted, kids who cannot get decent standardized test scores (and the DEI crowd are working to water those down as well) are not ready for college. They end up taking remedial classes, taking longer to graduate or not graduating at all. And needing more of their professors' time and taking instruction time away from academically prepared classmates.
These are all facts. Unpleasant, but true and logical.
I don't think you actually understand the meaning of the words that you are using.
Individuals should indeed not be viewed or treated based on stereotypes, even if there is solid statistical basis, but not because doing so would demonstrate "statistical illitera[cy]".
If anything taking actions based on accurate statistical data is a broadly rational course of action. For instance, if 9/10 of all of the people who eat a purple mushroom would die horribly, it makes tremendous sense and demonstrates great statistical literacy to avoid purple mushrooms even if 10% are perfectly safe (and may even be very tasty).
Not treating individuals based on racial stereotypes is a MORAL and LEGAL issue, and the latter is arguably limited based on reality vs the idealistic considerations of the former.
Statistically black students were admitted with the lowest average academic qualifications. The majority did not graduate in 5 years, and needed remedial math and English because they were not academically prepared.
The percentage of a class has little to do with whether they are academically prepared.
