Usually when a team goes far in the Europa League, League form suffers.
#AVFC win the thing and finish 4th, after the lowest net spend in the league back in the summer.
Unai Emery- pound for pound the best manager in the League and the manager of the season.
Villa could be the best team to watch in the country when they’re on it
While everyone else is busy assaulting goalkeepers and boring everyone to tears relying on var
Villa take shots and express themselves and go for the spectacular!
English football - you’re welcome
#avfc
We’ve got Prince William on royal duties still Bladdered
Watkins showing a personality while steaming
Youri talking out his arse pretending to be sober
Mcginn shitting on the city
Rogers being told off for swearing
Unai absolutely wankered
Martinez doing Martinez things
I fucking love this club 💜🩵
You can feel the relief on the pitch and in the dugout. Quite some achievement, this, given the chaos of last summer and the poor start. Emery fist-pumping down the tunnel, Vidagany embracing everyone and conducting the fans. Memorable scenes #avfc
How Unai Emery is not in this, with all the challenges faced in the summer, having to eek more out of a starting XI that has barely changed in years and, really, should have grown extremely stagnant and declined, is startling. He has maximised more out of his squad than anyone.
🚨Bournemouth's likely UEFA qualification is, perversely, about to trigger a raft of SCR issues. Champions League will be lucrative enough to fix any issues, Europa and Conference may not.
Even with their huge recent trading profits, a 70% SCR cap will be very hard to comply with (both at UEFA and PL levels). Remember Bournemouth were one of the vocal dissenters to the SCR implementation. One to watch.
People don't notice or appreciate that Aston Villa 2025/26 could be one of the greatest modern sports stories.
Every single neutral should be rooting for them and every journalist should be marvelling.
- Positive NET spend.
- Captain been there from the Championship.
- Best players and spine of team all signed from the Championship.
- Forced to sell every year despite getting better every year.
- Buendia recalled from loan, said his goodbyes, ended up staying and playing a huge part.
- Leon Bailey recalled from loan where he started one game and thrown straight into a Premier League title charge.
- Goalkeeper tried to force a move.
- Kamara out for the season.
- McGinn out.
- Tielemans out.
- Onana out a lot.
- Mings was there in the Championship too and has fought back from having a toothpick leg.
- He needed to come back to cover for Pau Torres who was out.
- Villa hadn't even qualified for UCL in PL era.
- The manager is constantly dismissed by the media, claiming he's not top tier.
- The team he's taking on sacked him and their fans still try to make a joke figure out of him.
- He's taking them on despite all of the above and he's facing a billion pound squad who they praise for having so many quality options outside their first XI.
People are caught up in the 21.5 years Arsenal have waited and they're missing the real story right under their noses.
Arsenal couldn't be further from underdogs. Aston Villa's story, already, is absolutely ridiculous and if they managed to sustain this, it would be nothing short of magic.
Amazing that #avfc just lost at home after 11 straight wins, are 3rd in the PL behind ££ Arsenal and City (level on points), have injuries to key players, restricted in the transfer market, playing in Europe and I’m seeing snide posts scoffing at Emery and our ‘title chances’. 🙄
About to be LOTS of bad takes about Kathleen Kennedy, but she made:
Indiana Jones, Poltergeist, ET, Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Batteries Not Included, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cape Fear, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Twister (and MORE).
She’s GOAT’ed.
They don’t get the attention outside of Rogers because they aren’t the most spectacular, but Villa’s players just keep turning up. McGinn, Kamara, Tielemans, Watkins, Cash, Konsa doesn’t matter. They just do what needs to be done. #avfc
Tonight just showed the difference between those allowed to spend and those stopped from doing so.
We are fighting with one hand behind our back all the time.
No point complaining won’t change, just need to do what we can starting Sat. V Forest #avfc
There will be lots written in the coming days about how this was always coming for #avfc and maybe it was, a bit.
But we’ve just won 11 in a row, we more than matched them for 3 halves of football this month, and we’ve got no Cash, Torres, Mings, Kamara, Onana or Barkley.
