The 26th national #Metropolis Conference is an opportunity to hear from leaders like @leeshakanbour and Sarosh Rizvi on important topics such as National Sector Engagement: Advancing Sector Policy and Operations Through Formalized National Collaboration

I know I’ve tweeted/said this before but I’ll say it again…
As a society we would all be better off if we changed our mindset from the Western ways of “I have rights” and moved towards how many Indigenous cultures view it as “I have obligations.” /1
We keep hearing how our healthcare system is collapsing (which it is). But that does nothing to improve our understanding.
Let’s use a hypothetical emergency department visit to highlight the disaster that is happening every day around the country.
Here’s a thread 🧵:
Lots of vax news in AB today:
-Expanded access for 4th doses as of April 12 (see screenshot for eligibility)
-Novavax now available for 18+ (tell anyone who was avoiding mRNA!)
-Moderna available for ages 6-11 starting April 12

@jkenney Will you also apologize unreservedly for your years of anti-LGBTQ2S activism and pledge to do better?
You could show you mean it with action. Like by repealing Bill 8, which made your provincial government the first in Canada to roll back LGBTQ2S+ rights.
I have more ideas too.
Don’t you dare bring up AIDS in your COVID comments, @jkenney, and pretend you’re some sort of human rights defender. We know your record on that. You fought to keep gay people from visiting their dying partners in hospital. Stop.
Bad news for the “back to normal” people: COVID aside, “normal” is rapidly destroying the habitability of Earth, and the extent of systemic change that needs to happen to save you from facing catastrophic climate change in your lifetime is WAY more intense than wearing a mask.
It's clear "learning to live with the virus" is the same paradigm thru which we will be conditioned to live with climate crisis—as the structural effects of capitalism are obscured by calls for individual resilience amidst a supposedly natural (and thus unresolvable) catastrophe
The climate crisis reveals that our civilization has never really been organized around science, contrary to the usual Enlightenment narrative. It is organized around capital. Science is embraced when it serves the interests of capital, and is often ignored when it does not.
Booster news!
All Albertans aged 18 or older are now eligible to book their COVID-19 booster, if it’s been five months since their second dose.
That’s me! I’ll be booking mine and I hope you will too. Protect yourself. Protect each other. Let’s get through this, friends. #ableg
We have created this culture of impunity that allows an individual who, on record, abused their power with a child, to still believe they're fit for public office without recourse
