The Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum - A place of rest for a great son of Africa, a symbol of his enduring legacy and a reminder of the indelible mark he left on our nation. Though he rests here, his ideals, courage and vision live on.
Today, as Baba’s Mausoleum is officially opened in Bondo, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto.
Mr. President, thank you for standing with Baba, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, both in life and in death.
Thank you for honouring Baba with the dignity, respect and recognition he truly deserves. This is not only an honour to his memory but also to his family, his supporters and the millions of Kenyans whose lives he touched.
Your respect for Baba and his legacy will never be forgotten.
We will forever remain grateful and thankful.
Baba, your legacy lives on. May you continue resting in eternal peace.
To my fellow Luos,
Read deeply into what it means when the deaths of our leaders become a source of celebration, and political entertainment.
They celebrated the death of Raila.
Today, some are already speculating about the death of Dr. Oburu.
We must not dismiss these things as merely political banter. There is a deeper question we must confront about the contempt and disdain that is directed at Luo leadership and, by extension, the Luo community.
Raila never controlled the instruments of government. He never had the power to independently determine government policy. Dr. Oburu is merely a senator. Yet the intensity of the hatred directed at them is greater than that directed at people who actually held executive power and presided over governments. Uhuru Kenyatta is a hero today.
Perhaps we have been too willing to sacrifice our own interests in the pursuit of a broader national project. A thankless struggle.
We have repeatedly invested in Kenya's democratic institutions, constitutionalism and national unity, while others have been far more deliberate about protecting and advancing their own political interests.
Today they have toads and infrastructure and they keep laughing at us.
Let us learn from what we are witnessing.
Luos are known to be very appreciative and stand by you no matter what. Given what Ruto has done for Baba and the Odinga family and the status Baba held in the community, consider the majority of Luos loyal to Ruto. He has given the Odingas respect no one else has.
The same problems Uganda is facing with its attempts at modernization are present here in Kenya too.
The use of the judicial system to stall African development in so called African ‘democratic’ states is out of this world.
Has he resigned as ODM Senator to seek a fresh mandate from the people now that he has changed parties like Raila did back in the day?
Ama hii rule of law ni selective.
