So long story short. I turned down the field trip and told the organizers and my administration exactly why I was turning it down.

Now every time I see a picture or hear the name of the organizer, I get salty and relive my frustration of those conversations .

Still me being salty about the field trip we could organize during COVID to an outdoor garden space where I was told I could only extend the offer to my ten “best” students. (We were remote.)

Side note: I am guilty of claiming all my students as “the best” or “my favorites” often in the same conversation. BECAUSE THEY ALL ARE.

They all are unique, beautiful humans that deserve my best…which would not be picking ten for a field trip without offering it to all.
