Open Letter to the Texas Education Agency, San Angelo ISD, and San Angelo Parents:
Dear TEA Officials, San Angelo ISD Leadership, and Fellow Parents,
I’m a Texas parent and taxpayer who believes our schools should teach reading, math, critical thinking — not divisive personal ideologies. After reviewing Jason Roy Gaston’s public YouTube videos, serious concerns arise.
Mr. Gaston, a teacher in our area, runs a channel with thousands of followers. He openly calls himself a “woke LGBT ally” and posts videos like “Pride Month Panic is for Idiots” and “Transphobia is for Idiots.” In them, he mocks concerned parents, ridicules biological reality, dismisses questions about youth transitions and fairness in sports, and labels traditional views as bigotry or fragility.
Even if these are “just” personal videos, teachers hold real influence over our children. Texas families have the right to know where the adults in the classroom stand on sensitive topics involving kids’ bodies, identities, and development.
We already have strong parental rights laws in Texas. This situation highlights why transparency matters. I urge the TEA and San Angelo ISD to review public statements by district employees and ensure professional neutrality — especially on contested gender issues and cultural activism.
Parents: Our kids get one childhood. They shouldn’t be caught between home values and ideological messaging at school. Like, share, and speak up. Contact your school board and reps. Demand accountability and put kids first.
Traditional common sense isn’t hate. Protecting children isn’t panic. Let’s keep Texas education focused on excellence, not indoctrination.
