BREAKING NEWS: Wander Franco will not serve a prison sentence for the crime of sexual and psychological abuse against a minor. The court found him guilty, but he will not receive a lengthy prison term.

The court explains that he has been granted a judicial pardon, and therefore, there is no conviction. The full sentence will be delivered to the parties on Tuesday, June 16, per @JuanRecioM.

Why are we wasting time with a new stablecoin yield proposal? There is already a path to provide yield on Digtial Assets by becoming a bank (an insured depository institution, IDI) and having the required safety and soundness standards to take people's money and invest it to drive yield. Trust Banks shouldn't be able to offer yield on ANY asset. Please do not lower the standard from having to be an IDI to be able to provide yield on any assset. The current mark-up works for everyone except a few. If those "few" want to offer yield on digital assets like stablecoins they should apply for a Bank IDI license not ask the Senate to lower the standard to safeguard the American people's money. @SenatorTimScott @SenLummis @SenThomTillis @SenateGOP @SenateBanking @patrickjwitt

BREAKING: The US FDA has retreated from their plan to ban artificial colors in food, per The Guardian.

Instead, the FDA:

1. Will loosen requirements for companies to state “no artificial colors”

2. Allow products that may contain dangerous substances such as titanium dioxide to state “no artificial colors”

3. Agreed to what critics label a “handshake” with big food

US job openings are now at recession levels:

US job openings dropped -386,000 in December, to 6.5 million, the lowest since September 2020.

Over the last 2 months, job openings have declined -907,000, the biggest 2-month drop since March 2023.

The number of available vacancies has plummeted -5.6 million since the March 2022 peak.

This is now below levels seen before the pandemic in 2018 and 2019, at ~7.0 million.

As a result, the ratio of available vacancies to unemployed workers is down to 0.87, the lowest since February 2021, and significantly below the pre-pandemic high of 1.24.

This is also below the levels recorded during the 2001 recession.

US job market weakness is accelerating.

Beaverton, OR — Masked ICE agents seized 38-year-old chiropractor Mahdi Khanbabazadeh outside a preschool as he dropped off his child. The agents refused to identify themselves to witnesses, smashed his driver-side window after he begged them to wait because “there is a baby in the car,” and hauled him away in handcuffs. He is married to a U.S. citizen and was waiting for his citizenship to finalize.
