The reason charcoal is dangerous for anyone on oral medication is the same reason it’s used for poisoning - it absorbs stuff you consume before your body does. It can’t discriminate between poison and medication.

I know some of y'all are like "ugh not this discourse again!" but what might be old to you is new to someone else, plus it is a very important reminder because we're all human and sometimes we just forget lol. Best bet is to just stay away from activated charcoal, period!

And this mostly applies to HRT taken ORALLY, chances are patches and injections you should be OK, but you should always ask your doctor first just to be sure!

Again and I repeat: this post was meant to specifically address trans people on HRT since many of us on HRT might not realize that activated charcoal is a big no for us. Of course this goes for ANY/ALL medication but I wanted to highlight the HRT since many don't know this yet.

Sorry I forgot to add, charcoal absorbs EVERYTHING from our oral HRT, vitamins, medication, etc. and it takes a long time to pass thru the system. No matter how cool it looks, no matter how it might help with absorbing alcohol therefore preventing a hangover, not worth it!!
