The solemn observance was held in the gracious presence of the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

Honoured to attend the 38th National Yogasana Championship 2026 and the Selection Trial for the 12th World Yogasana Championship 2027, to be held in Thailand, today at the Khuman Lampak Main Indoor Stadium.
The prestigious championship was organised by the Manipur Yoga Society in collaboration with the All India Yoga Federation under the theme "Yogasana for Health, Harmony and National Unity." The championship will be held from 2nd to 4th October, 2026.
The event was also attended by Hon'ble Minister (Home), Shri Govindas Konthoujam and Hon'ble MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency, Shri Th. Arunkumar Singh, along with other dignitaries.

Deeply saddened and shocked to learn the untimely and tragic demise of Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Imphal Regional Office and Shri Nampibou Marinmai, IIS, Director (News), Doordarshan Aizawl, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Mizoram. Both senior officers are residents of Tamenglong district, Manipur.
Their untimely departure is an irreplaceable loss to the nation. Their dedicated service and outstanding contributions to journalism and public communication will continue to inspire generations. Their legacy will be remembered forever with the highest respect and regard.
My heartfelt prayers and sincere condolences are with the bereaved families. May they find strength and courage to bear this difficult time.
May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.

Four newly appointed Manipur Civil Service (MCS) officers promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) under the Manipur cadre called on me at my Secretariat, Mantripukhri, today.
The officers are Smt. A. Romita Devi, Additional Secretary (CAF&PD & SCERT); Shri K. Bono Singh, Additional Secretary (Works & School Education); Shri Kh. Lalmani Singh, Secretary, Manipur Public Service Commission; and Shri H. Balkrisna Singh, Additional Secretary (Home, Relief & Disaster Management) and Project Director, Loktak Development Authority.
I congratulated them on their well-deserved promotion and wished them a successful and fulfilling tenure in the service of the people.
Met India's star weightlifter, Km. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who won a silver medal in the women's 48 kg category and elite Indian Wushu Sanda fighter, Km. Naorem Roshibina Devi, who won a silver medal in the women's Sanda 60 kg category at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 in Japan, at my Secretariat, Mantripukhri, today.
Mirabai lifted 87 kg in snatch and 111 kg in clean and jerk, with a total lift of 198 kg, to clinch the silver medal. Roshibina has created history by winning medals at three consecutive Asian Games, bronze in 2018, silver in 2023 and 2026, becoming the first Indian woman to achieve this feat in Wushu.
I extend my heartiest congratulations to both players for once again making the entire country and the State proud. Their hard work, discipline and perseverance continue to be an inspiration for all young sportspersons in the country, especially the youth of Manipur.
The State Government will continue to extend all possible support to sportspersons to promote sports in the State and I wish them continued success in the future.
