In a video footage, Commander John, one of the Kuki terrorists, who was injured in the retaliatory firing by the CRPF during the Borobekra attack in Jiribam, Manipur on 11th November, is seen being treated at Aizawl Hospital. The footage was leaked on 12th November.

We request the NIA to launch immediate action to arrest this individual.

The massacre of the Meiteis in Jiribam was a well-coordinated and large-scale attack. Six women and children were abducted and brutally killed. Two elderly Meitei men were murdered inside a relief camp that was later set ablaze.

Such a brutal assault could not have happened without the direct involvement of top Kuki-Hmar militant leaders and groups.

Eyewitnesses confirm that 20–30 armed terrorists stormed the police station and the relief camp to carry out the massacre.

While we appreciate the arrest of Thanglienlal Hmar alias Boya, we strongly urge the NIA to carry out this investigation to its logical end by arresting every Chin-Kuki leader and Kuki militants involved in planning and executing the Jiribam massacre.

While the state government may provide food and shelter on humanitarian grounds to those fleeing the political crisis in Myanmar, they are strictly monitored through a necessary identification process, collection of biometric data, and submission of relevant documents, among other measures.

These measures are being implemented to prevent illegal immigrants from mingling with locals or attempting to establish villages in the state.

Under Shri @NBirenSingh leadership, strict monitoring of the influx of outsiders was initiated, and this effort continues to this day.

Following the abolition of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), the movement of people across the border is strictly regulated through visas or passports.

Nevertheless, the threat of illegal influx of outsiders persists, and the call for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state grows louder from various quarters.

Similar to the demand for Kukiland in Manipur, the Miya community, who are illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, have raised a demand for "Miyaland" in Assam.

The Assam Accord defines post-1971 infiltrators as illegal, amidst historical migration following the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

The ongoing eviction drive in Assam should be intensified to crush all these attempts to break the North East.

Assam’s Guwahati hills being renamed 'Kudratpur' by illegal encroachers is a wake-up call, echoing similar challenges in Manipur.

The Manipur Names of Places Bill, 2024 has been passed in our state to check and prevent the renaming of places by encroachers amid ethnic tensions.

This law establishes a legal framework to preserve our cultural heritage by preventing unauthorised changes that lead to land grabbing by illegal immigrants.

A seven-member committee, appointed by the state, can propose name changes alone, subject to approval. Illegal renaming is a punishable offence (up to 3 years jail, Rs 50,000 Rs 2 lakh fines, or Rs 3 lakh for officials aiding it).

It covers forests, villages, hills, rivers and every landmark across the state. This historic Manipur Names of Places Act, 2024 has been enforced as a result of Shri @NBirenSingh tireless efforts in shielding Manipur from illegal encroachers and infiltrators.

Assam should consider following this example to strengthen the ongoing measures to safeguard our land, culture and identity.

The concept proposal for the Churachandpur (Kaprang) to Kangpokpi (Motbung) road, initiated by the Office of the Executive Engineer Churachandpur Division PWD, raises serious suspicions amid Manipur's ongoing ethnic tensions.

Prepared without apparent state government approval, this Rs 280 crore project traverses sensitive areas, risking further escalation of conflict.

How can a road be constructed through the Reserved & Protected Forest areas without central approval and how this concept paper was prepared? It passes through the maximum of forest areas.

The lack of transparency in its submission to the Central government, coupled with speculations of strategic motives, casts doubt on its legitimacy.

Advancing this project without addressing these concerns will deepen divisions, fuel violence, and destabilize the region, with disastrous consequences for communities already grappling with unrest.

We urge Chief Secretary, Shri Puneet Kumar Goel and Hon'ble Governor, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla to investigate this proposal thoroughly, scrutinize any illegal proceedings, and halt progress until a transparent and inclusive review is made to ensure that it aligns with the state's peace and stability.

Manipur's fragile harmony demands that a cautious and accountable governance is in place to prevent catastrophic outcomes.

The socio-political unrest in Manipur has brought renewed focus on the historical and geopolitical origins of the Kuki community. As per insights shared by Alok Ranjan, a reputed faculty member of NEXT IAS, the ethnic and demographic complexities of the region—particularly involving the Kuki-Chin people, must be understood in the context of cross-border migration, national security, and demographic shifts.

A particularly grave concern has been the alleged involvement of certain Kuki groups in drug trafficking networks. Manipur shares a border with the infamous Golden Triangle (Myanmar-Laos-Thailand), a global hotspot for heroin production. Many poppy plantations have surfaced in the Kuki-dominated hill areas. These plantations reportedly serve as the raw material source for heroin manufacturing. The proceeds from this narco-trade are suspected to fund illegal arms purchases and destabilize the region, making it a nexus for narco-terrorism.

The unchecked migration from Myanmar's Chin State, the alleged demographic manipulation, and the growing links of certain Kuki groups with drug cartels present a significant challenge to Manipur’s internal security. This is not merely a law-and-order issue but a long-term national security concern.

Kudos to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for seizing 7 kg of cocaine worth Rs 14.69 crore in Bengaluru, busting an interstate smuggling racket.

The Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement has fueled chaos in Manipur as it has legitimized the illicit activities of militant groups like the Kuki National Front (KNF) and also threatens the regional peace and development.

In Kangpokpi, KNF looted most of the Rs 320 crore highway compensation meant for villagers, forcing them to sign blank papers at gunpoint and diverting funds to suspicious accounts.

A staggering Rs 18 crore was credited to just eight accounts, with one receiving Rs 58 lakh three times. Only 153 of 2,880 individuals got direct payments, while KNF siphoned off the rest, turning the compensation scheme into a money-laundering route for terror funding, potentially arming insurgents.

This rampant exploitation by KNF underscores why Shri @NBirenSingh government boldly withdrew from the SoO agreement, which must be scrapped entirely to curb militancy, restore stability, and ensure justice for Manipur’s people, paving the way for genuine growth and development.

I commend the Assam Rifles for their decisive action in foiling major drug trafficking attempts in the region. The operation led to interception of 616 soap cases packed with meth tablets worth over ₹76 crore, seized 50.5 kg of opium worth ₹2.52 crore, along with 1.24 crore Kyat and ₹2 lakh in cash. One person was arrested.

I urge the Assam Rifles to continue strengthening their crackdown on cross-border smuggling. With our border areas historically used as drug routes, continuous and intensified vigil is crucial to prevent new corridors from emerging.

The issue of drug trafficking in the Northeast states extends beyond what is immediately visible.

The narcotics trade originating from Myanmar is a national threat, and Shri @NBirenSingh has been raising alarms on this issue for a long time.

His government launched the War on Drugs campaign in Manipur, and a massive amount of poppy cultivation has been destroyed in the past several years while many were arrested during the crackdown.

Although the drug related cases have significantly reduced in the state following his strong measures, there is an alarming rise on cases of drugs trafficking & smuggling in neighbouring states such as Mizoram.

The neighboring states must intensify their efforts to curb this menace and launch a similar crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal immigration, as these issues are closely related.
