We’d like to extend our thanks to all of the sponsors and partners of #BPSCLeicester. Our evening poster sessions were generously sponsored by @RoyalAstroSoc and @europlanetmedia. This gave many ECRs a chance to present at their first conference, hopefully with many more to come!
Some photos from our brilliant poster session and talks throughout the day, thanks to all of our delegates so far for sharing your exciting planetary science work! #BPSCLeicester@SpaceParkLeic 🛰️🪐🌍
@SpaceParkLeic This morning we enjoyed talks from Sue Horne (ex-UKSA), Adrian Martindale (UoL), Piyal Samara-Ratna (SPL) and John Holt (SPL) on getting your project to space and several case studies of projects from our own @SpaceParkLeic
We’re busy getting ready to welcome everyone to #BPSCLeicester tomorrow…poster boards going up and presentations being finalised! Our team will be wearing BPSC polo shirts and ready to help you out throughout the conference ☄️🌟
This time next week the #BPSCLeicester dinner event will be taking place at @spacecentre ✨A show at the UK's largest domed planetarium with dinner to follow and a chance to explore the exhibitions after hours...🤩 @SpaceParkLeic
One week until #BPSCLeicester and we’re getting ready to welcome everyone to @SpaceParkLeic and @spacecentre. From micrometeorites to Giant Planets, we’re looking forward to showcasing brilliant British planetary science research! ☄️🪐

Part of the Planetary Materials research group, PhD student @Planetary_PhD spoke to @bbcemt about the work we’ve been doing on the #Winchcombe meteorite ☄️
📽️ @uniofleicester PhD student Niamh Topping on @bbcemt last night discussing findings from research taking place into the #Winchcombe meteorite fall.
Detailed imaging & chemical analyses determined that Winchcombe contains approximately 11% extra-terrestrial water (by weight).
The first meteorite ☄️ of it's kind to be found in the UK, discovered in a field during a covid lockdown, has been found to contain 11% extra-terrestrial water by a consortium including the @uniofleicester, @NHM_London & @UofGlasgow.

The first big #Winchcombe paper has been published! Over 120 authors have contributed to this unique, incredible meteorite find, including our own Prof. Bridges and Dr. Hicks. Congrats to all! 🎉 The paper can be found here: https://t.co/1mvozfZwVA
@uniofleicester@PhysicsUoL
There are more than 120 authors on the @ScienceAdvances paper about the #Winchcombe#Meteorite - the first scholarly publication. In a nice touch, those authors include the town's people who donated fallen material to the national collection. 😍 https://t.co/VQppn4ilh3
We’ve arrived at @BritishSciFest! Come and see our Exploring Mars stall to see some Martian meteorites and solve our crime scene using Raman spectroscopy! #BSF22@PhysicsUoL 🛰☄️🚀
Loads of chances to meet experts from @PhysicsUoL today @BritishSciFest: a debate on the future of space science at DMU; drop-in sessions on @ESA_Webb and the SMILE mission @leicestermuseum this evening; and @LeicsPlanets Mars activities around the clocktower on Saturday.
Join us this Saturday as part of @BritishSciFest to take part in our Exploring Mars event. Come & see some Mars meteorites & use a laser to investigate Raman spectroscopy, to find out how we use both to explore Mars. 🚀🛰☄️@BritSciAssoc@dmuleicester@PhysicsUoL
