Plans released for a $16 billion mile-long ship capable of carrying 80,000 people.
The 'Freedom Ship' would be home to about 50,000 people, with space for 10,000 tourists and 20,000 crew members.
"The Freedom Ship is envisioned as a permanently mobile city at sea designed for long-term residence rather than short-term travel," the company says.
The ship would be about 8 times the size of the current largest ship in the world, the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas.
The plans include a 15,000-seat stadium, schools, colleges, shops, clubs, a water park, a music hall, museums, parks, and more.
The ship, which would run on nuclear, would be too large to dock and would remain in international waters.
Freedom Cruise International says it would go around the world every two to three years.
Insane.
Metro Transit needs to relaunch the Red Line.
I personally think American Boulevard needs more BRT and the gap between the Orange Line and D-Line needs to be filled.
Extend the Red Line past MOA, fill this gap, and run along 35W.
Minimal new stations and serves new riders.
@KlausIezzi Apple Valley to Eden Prairie may be a more in demand route than I give it credit for. In my mind I’m thinking serve Bloomington and Minneapolis. Have it connect to the green line in downtown Minneapolis after traveling north on 35W.
It’s so funny to think people still believe in JJ when:
1. The Vikings obviously wanted Maye over McCarthy
2. The GM that drafted him got fired and was notorious for bad drafting.
3. There is already a much better JJ on the team
@jlstp You are so incredibly right and I agree. I think that if we are going to have freeways/freeway bus terminals, those should be served by frequent buses that connect the metro.
Also, if you want to go from South Minneapolis to North East, a 4 mile trip it can ~ take an hour too.
“People don’t take the bus or train because it’s unsafe!” disregards the very real reality that I wouldn’t do this bus ride even if the bus was empty.
These two destinations are on “BRT” routes. Connecting the metro with better transit means fixing stuff like this.
Somehow for a destination the; 645, 9 and 38 with a bike all took an 1:04 minutes (the 9 was 1:02!) compared to a 50 minute bike ride and a 25 minute drive. It was just baffling to figure.
@hemakhemak I’d also advocate for better frequencies. Any route operating with greater than 15-minute headways makes transferring between routes a real headache.
We don’t need “strong mayors”. Men who think they have all the answers because they can talk and perform for an audience better than others.
We need strong towns who are properly funded. Good services that help people. City’s should have access to the wealth they create.
@PersephoneK@UncleScamSucks@daviss That’s completely valid. Paths that completely end without warning. Traffic patterns that make biking multiple times more complex. The midtown greenway is nonsense for biking commuting. It might be better than other US cities but there is plenty to complain about.
