We were lucky enough to spend a day this week talking with blended students at the middle school building schema about the platform through the eyes of the learner. So amazing to hear them talk about it!
Please remember that all those interactions you have with your students outside of the lesson really matter. The smiles... the eye contact... the jokes... the fist bumps... the silliness...they’re all important. They remind kids that they matter. Those moments can mean the world.
I’m inspired by educators who see the big picture. Educators who recognize the goal is not a compliant student, but an engaged student... Educators who value relationships over rules... Educators who realize their work is about investing in the future of children.
And here is the story featuring our guests tonight, @Eisinger_ncsd, @Houppert_ncsd, and @BrittanyRitz1. Check it out to see how they make co-teaching work:

Lesson plans are important, and pedagogy matters… but some of the most important work of teachers, might not be captured by a plan. When teachers encourage, support, inspire, care about, and connect with their students… they are engaged in work that transcends the “plan.”
There are students everywhere, who never liked a subject until they got that one special teacher. So it doesn’t matter what your subject is… you have the potential to be that one special teacher.
It was a fun staff meeting today! If you give a GCHS teacher the chance to shine, or to show off their best ugly Christmas sweater, they will impress! 🎄#buildthetribe#WeareGC
Another great Peer Learning Lab today at GCHS. Thank you Mr Bohman for allowing us to peek into your classroom and for being committed to improving for our students. Honored to be surrounded by these colleagues today! #buildthetribe#WeareGC
Here’s something I’ve noticed about kids: when they feel like you have actually listened to them, the rest of the conversation usually goes much better.
One case for standards-based learning: If a student failed to ride a bike 9 times, but was successful on the 10th try, what would their grade be? Would they get 1 out of 10 points? 10%? Or did they master the skill of riding a bike? #sblchat#masterychat#ModernMeasures#edchat
