On January 22, I had the pleasure of joining Hon. Minister Monica Mutsvangwa and a cross-party delegation of China-Zimbabwe Parliamentary Friendship Association, led by Hon. Webster Shamu, on a visit to the Dinson Iron & Steel Company. In just five years, this iconic China-Zimbabwe cooperation project has evolved from promise into tangible progress, transforming into a thriving steel hub—a powerful testament to our shared commitment and fruitful partnership. 🇨🇳🇿🇼
DISCO stands as a catalyst for Zimbabwe’s future by:
✅ Spearheading industrialization and value addition, meeting critical domestic and regional demand while removing a longstanding barrier to growth for key sectors like construction and manufacturing.
✅ Creating over 2,000 quality jobs within local communities, including 190 ZIE-registered engineers, while fostering meaningful skills transfer and empowering sustainable livelihoods.
✅ Actively fulfilling its social responsibilities through community-focused initiatives—building schools, drilling boreholes, and rehabilitating local roads.
DISCO’s achievements are fully aligned with Zimbabwe’s NDS1 and NDS2, advancing national priorities such as inclusive economic transformation, job creation, increased tax revenue, and expanded trade—a commitment powerfully captured in the company’s own inspiring motto:
“Excellence is a choice, not a chance. Steel by steel, we strengthen the nation.”

A great week for Tsingshan Holdings operations in Zimbabwe following the successful signing of MoU with GoZ. This will result in @AfrochineZ massively increasing production and creating more employment for Zimbabweans.

"When this project is complete, it's going to be the source for the African steel market." This the positive story that Zimbabwean ambassadors are telling the world regarding the Manhize steel plant. What an inspiration!

Groundbreaking of the Dinson Iron & Steel project at Manhize on Thursday last week.
Thanking H.E. @edmnangagwa for gracing the event and all stakeholders for the successful event.
We promised...we delivered!
Afrochine has completed refurbishment of the intersection along Harare-Bulawayo road, at Selous, which was in a deplorable state and blamed for traffic accidents. We did this as part of our CSR initiatives and giving back to society.
Another award in the bag...
We have just been recognised by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce @ZNCCNational for being 2021 "Most improved exporter (in) Mining". This comes after being named Zimbabwe's largest ferrochrome producer for the same year by @MinistryMines
Water to the people...
We are glad to report that this weekend, on Saturday, we drilled two boreholes at Sable Flats Farm Village and Nyikavanhu Village 6, Ward 7 Chikomba District. The two villages are adjacent to our plant. For the past 20 years they had no clean water.
Humongous...
Components for Mvuma steel plant blast furnace have arrived at Durban Port, South Africa. They will arrive in Zim at the end of June. What a spectacle it will be, as we build Africa's largest steel plant! @HeraldZimbabwe@NewsDayZimbabwe@DailyNewsZim@DailyNewsZim
We're proud to associate with our friends at @TNHZ_Trust to raise awareness on, and support people living with, albinism. We recently assisted with funds towards hosting of #albinismday commemorations to be held in Gweru. See you there!

We began today the 3-day training on "Safety and Health Policy, Accident Prevention & Reporting Procedure." This will involve our newly-elected workers committee, team leaders and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) committee and SHE reps. Zero harm in the workplace is achievable!
Electrifying...
Today we signed Joint Venture Agreement with @ZetdcOfficial for construction of the 100km power line from Sherwood to the Mvuma steel plant site. Grateful for the cooperation of stakeholders for making this happen!

Mission accomplished...
We care deeply about communities we operate in. Today we fulfilled a commitment to provide clean water to people living around our operations in Darwendale. Our work wasn't prompted by politicians or external players but by our values, love & friendship.
HONOURED...
On March 29, we were conferred with two accolades at the inaugural Mining Excellence Awards held at a glitzy event in Harare. #Afrochine is Ferrochrome Producer of the Year, while parent company, Tsingshan, which includes @Disco_Zimbabwe got special Minister's Award.
