@5katkov@vaxryy Do politicians get special devices that don't scan all their messages or how does it work? Is there a publicly available list of these people somewhere? And who ensures that Epstein-like really bad people don't get to be these exceptions?
@DrDootPhD Is DualSense-only mandatory now?
On PS3 and PS4 some games supported down to PS1 controllers with cheap generic USB adapters, but it was game specific support, mostly fighting games.
@lutyrannus 20 years of gyro controls on Sony consoles, and yet I'm pretty sure the only games they've ever made with full gyro aiming are all on the Vita
@JJ_McCullough Chilly Dilly, cold pickles meant to be eaten in drive-through theaters. This was one of the intermissions featured in Wet (2009) and I was baffled to find out it was a real ad, not just a fake made for the game.
@SpawnWaveMedia This is regional as well. Ridge Racer 6 is available digitally in the US, but in Europe it was published by EA so it's a disc-only title. This also means none of the DLC is available for purchase in Europe.
@qexd1k@GMango99 Arguably it was Sony that killed physical games on PC. They owned SecuROM which in its later incarnations was a disc-based DRM so awful that everyone voluntarily moved into account-based DRM solutions like Steam instead.
@realradec There's also a surprising amount of PSP games that can not be purchased or downloaded on a stock PS Vita (but can be bought on PS3 and downloaded via Adrenaline). Gradius Collection (can't be bought or downloaded on Vita) and Thexder Neo (can't be bought on Vita) as examples.
@realradec Do note the various bundles available on PSN, how some games are now bundle only, and you can be locked out of bundles if you own certain games or DLC.
For example "Fat Princess" has long since been delisted but it's still available in the "Best of PSN" bundle with Tokyo Jungle
@scully1888 You can still login and download from the PSP store (purchases have to be made on PS3 or Vita depending on what you're buying), though it's a nightmare to do so. Mostly useful for downloading PSP-only digital games that are not fully Vita compatible like Gradius Collection.
@OmegaProYT It's the exact same as today on PC. In addition to bad pricing, there's plenty of games that were only available on Steam and have since been delisted that are simply no longer available outside of piracy (and even then success is not guaranteed).
@DiscussingFilm That's the original Xbox One DRM scheme, just without the complicated used games stuff. You buy a disc, shove it in the console, and it activates a digital copy on your account. Presumably this is using the same tech that was left as part of the disc standard then?
@GenePark Blu-ray disc players require regular player-specific updates via the internet to add support for the latest encryption keys, and up till now the only player older than a decade able to play the latest discs has been the PlayStation. Blu-ray movies will die with it.
@realradec As nice as some games like TxK can look on the OLED screen, that just isn't worth the lower lifespan of the display or the horrific splotches on dark images.
@lauriewired Latency measurements for cloud gaming are useless as it varies wildly depending on the entire infrastructure between you and the datacenter.
And in case there's an issue in between, literally the only solution is to move houses!
@Focus0685@NostalgiaPro PC is the biggest and fastest growing platform, and has been essentially digital only for the last 15 years. It is only a matter of time before this cancer has fully infested the console space too.
@GHOSTALBUMS@DoesItPlay1 Even having a physical disc is no guarantee of any form of ownership or control. Remember SecuROM online activations on PC before Steam overtook everything?
@ZyMazza@FleischmanMena Automating a burger line isn't hard. How did you think pre-packaged microwave burgers are made?
It just doesn't make sense at restaurant scale as it's an order of magnitude too efficient. McD's is about resource per burger, not burger per resource.
