Igor Pavan Tres, a 26-year-old Brazilian seminarian and beloved Catholic influencer, died peacefully after a five-year battle with kidney cancer. Even while fighting intense pain and undergoing rounds of chemotherapy, Igor used his hospital bed as a pulpit. From his room, bald from treatment, rosary in hand, he shared powerful videos and reflections about trusting Jesus, offering up suffering, and finding hope in the Cross. His faith never wavered. Thousands followed his journey, inspired by his joy and unwavering witness.
Though cancer interrupted his formation, his greatest formation came through the school of the Cross. He taught us all that real faith shines brightest in the darkest moments. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Please pray for the repose of Igor’s soul and for comfort for his family🕊️
The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ: God created us, we all sin and fall short of His glory (Romans 3:23), but He sent His Son who lived sinlessly, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. Whoever believes in Him receives forgiveness and eternal life (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9).
In 1964, a young University of Michigan anthropologist went to live with a tribe untouched by modernity.
What he found destroyed the noble savage myth.
Then his own discipline spent the next four decades trying to destroy him for publishing it. 🧵

The film's emotional climax has Skyler Gisondo's male decoy character sing "Seasons of Love" from the LGBTQ Broadway musical Rent over the phone to a pedophile DA suspect as he approaches his suicide. The scene appears twice: once played for comedy, once for tragedy in the climax. Both instances are confirmed by multiple independent theatrical audience accounts and X posts from opening night.
Pedophile suspects are portrayed sympathetically throughout relative to Hansen. This is corroborated independently by first-person theatrical audience reviews and the Movie Nation critic review, which stated the film delivers "a cinematic watering-down and fact-bending spin on pedophiles" that "leaves the victims out of the equation." The DA suspect in the climax is framed as uncertain and nearly innocent as he dies, with sympathy directed toward him in the final sequence.
Anti-pedophile characters are depicted as bumbling, reckless, or secretly predatory throughout. Perverted Justice is portrayed as reckless and falsely accused of sexually enticing the men they caught.
A rabbi predator confronts Hansen with a "who gave you the right" challenge that the film's framing presents seriously. The film also contains a subplot framing mob justice as the real monster.
Hansen himself watched the film on opening day at a Times Square theater. Asked how many scenes depicted things that never happened, he answered "almost every one of them." He graded Pattinson's portrayal a D, called the film a "fever dream" and "detached from reality," and stated it was "an insult to people who work to protect children from predators." His X post announcing his reaction received approximately 2.5 million views and circulated more widely on opening weekend than any professional critic review.
A "pro-pedophile propaganda" characterization spread widely enough on opening day that Thought Catalog published a counter-narrative article within hours of release. Isolated boycott posts appeared on X with no coordinating hashtag and low engagement.
Distributor A24 holds GLAAD's highest "Good" studio rating for LGBTQ representation across its 2024 film slate. No DEI consultants or ESG funding involvement has been confirmed in production materials.
