@therapatical Fear of looking stupid, consuming thousands of hours of social content of perfection and thinking only that will do, fear of failure, poor executive function skills (aligning timings for pasta and sauce for example), short attention spans, prefer instant gratification
Proud to see this come to life to share the mission of @scope . The time has come for equality for disabled people. Will you join us?
Description: a film featuring multiple disabled people encountering barriers in life set to the song Galvanise by the Chemical Brothers
Life is still unequal for disabled people. The time has come for recognition and change.
We believe an equal future is possible, but it's going to take all of us. Are you in?
A tribute to the DAME
I will never forget you.
My thoughts are with your sons, grandchildren, family, friends & your legions of fans throughout the world who admired & loved you.
I couldn’t sleep last night, so wrote some words (below).
URGENT! Pls share. The last chance to register to vote in the General Election is 11.59pm tomorrow Tue 18 June. Potentially 8m aren't registered at their current address. Here's 4 key facts...
1) You can do it online here https://t.co/i4FhJoAXfK
2) It's good for your finances. Not being on electoral roll can make it more difficult to be accepted for credit products like bank accounts or mortgages.
3) You can opt out of the 'Open Register' (which allows your info to be sold on) which will stop you getting junk mail marketing )
4) You'll need ID when you do vote (not to register) if you don't have it, you can get it free until Wed 26 June https://t.co/9bfL3hw3CV
@mavisclare Exception to this is some wedding outfits/suits/occasion wear but even then I went through them recently and was honest that they either wouldn’t fit or I would choose to wear now as my style has changed. Sold them and now have budget for some new items
@mavisclare I have two seasonal wardrobes. I swap them over and the rest is stored away. If I don’t wear something in 6 months, I tell myself I can’t possibly like it enough otherwise I would have prioritised it. Also, keep the total number of clothes manageable!
Absolutely drained after a day of interviews on PIP reform. It’s so bloody infuriating to have to keep explaining: this is NOT an unemployed benefit; it is NOT easy to claim; and disabled people are NOT living the life of Riley on this benefit. Far from it.
@m_sherrington The whole rhetoric is disgusting. You can easily reduce the PIP bill but at a cost of improving in many other areas. But infantilising people by giving vouchers or telling them what’s best to spend it on is horribly patronising.
@m_sherrington If the therapy/treatment was there, at point of need, via the NHS then I’m sure people wouldn’t need lower rate PIP to pay privately. But being offered 6 CBT sessions once every 12 months is not going to help most people. It’s just shifting budget from DWP to NHS and social care
@cierzo1 @Annette_Bramley @ccfry@naomicfisher @andreac60768629 I agree about trousers IF there is a few different cuts because I know my hips would never have fit in a standard tailored trouser from a uniform supplier
@reubenturner@engineering_bae And you just know that even if they didn’t pay, they wouldn’t want you taking unlimited time off as they see you as a cog in a machine. That’s why minimum time off is the way to go and managers need to enforce it!
@anactualwalnut I have a toddler and I 100% agree with childfree spaces. We’ve all got a choice about where we want to eat/drink. What I don’t like is going to a child friendly space and being made to feel like I should apologise for my child existing even when she’s acting appropriately
@oldenoughtosay The second I saw those meds I knew that you had HG. Mine is just easing up at 24 weeks and it’s all a bit close to home still as it’s such a horrendous condition. Hoping you get all the support and it eases as soon as possible.
@reubenturner Is it available on any of the library apps like Libby? Any idea of the sound studio it was recorded at? Would the publisher or Hugh’s agent know that info? I want to help solve this conundrum.
@DeputyGrocott If you don't already have a before/after school club, or links with local childminders, I'd try to establish that and shout about it because the option for wraparound care is what makes most parents choice as they need to work outside of school hours
