“Are you better yet???”
Chronically ill people hear this all the time from those who can’t comprehend the “chronic” nature of living with disabilities.
We aren’t getting “better”
Sickness & suffering is our baseline
Please don’t pressure us to fake being well for your comfort
People really underestimate what living with a chronic illness actually demands.
This isn’t “feeling off.”
It’s a daily battle most people couldn’t even handle for one day.
I’m grown enough to admit I’m not the easiest person to love. Life put me through a lot, so yeah… I overthink, I get triggered quick, I shut down, and sometimes I don’t even make sense. I’m sensitive as hell and I need patience.
But one thing about me? My love is REAL.
I do think PIP needs reform.
I think more people need help.
I think assessors need appropriate medical training.
I think people that have life long conditions that won't improve shouldn't need to keep going through this.
Fireworks need banned aside from organised and licensed events. Absolutely pointless things that do nothing but terrify animals and leave litter everywhere.
I am not “differently abled”
I am not “special ed”
I am not “handicapable”
I am disabled. It isn’t a bad word. Treating it like it is a bad word is what is actually offensive.
