There is something about the voices at an Umemulo ceremony that touches a place in me that words cannot quite reach.
It feels like the voice of Mama Africa calling. Something ancient and familiar rises through the singing, and for a moment, you can almost feel the connection to the soil beneath your feet. The voices do not simply fill the air. They seem to carry memory, ancestry, celebration, and belonging.
Maybe that is what moves me most. You hear many voices, but somehow they become one. And in that sound, you feel Africa. Not just as a place, but as something alive within you. Something that reminds you where you come from.
