thinking about david and yuna sitting together and just rewinding that brunch they had with shane and… ilya rozanov. they would sit in silence long after shane and ilya left, almost not believing shane finally brought someone home. and then they would just… break into a laugh because of course shane would fall in love with his equal in hockey. of course it would be THE hockey menace. it makes so much sense that the person who finally made their son happy is his match in everything. shane’s life has always been revolved around hockey so it shouldn’t be too surprising that the one he ends up falling in love with is someone who is equally brilliant in it, who cares and understands that world. david also mentions this in his speech during shane and ilya’s wedding day, which makes shane just bury his head in his now-husband’s shoulder in embarrassment
“Shane couldn’t imagine anyone in the world being a better kisser than Ilya. Commanding and tender at the same time, just on the edge of filthy, but still managing to make Shane feel adored and precious”
Every time I see, ‘well, Shane did this’ and ‘Ilya did that’ I’m just like…okay? Because as someone who’s been with the same person for nearly 14 years, we still get mad at each other. We can still be selfish. We miss things. We sometimes don’t communicate in the best ways. We sometimes say mean things.
That’s just being a human in a relationship, y’all 🤷♀️
