I'm taking the footprints of my mother and becoming an actress too. She inspired me as she handled 2 jobs & raised me all as a single mother

After I was born, my mother became an actress as a side job. She needed extra money to pay off hospital bills and my parents divorcement.

I am truly blessed to have won 3 out of 6 of the prime-time Emmy's I was nominated for, for acting!

Performing live on Broadway seemed like too much pressure for me to handle, that's why I decided to become an actress on television!

I had no clue that after I retired in 1980, my one woman show "Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music" would air on TV for more than 3 years!!
