To understand the case of Bang Si-hyuk, we need to understand some financial and investment terms.

IPO – Initial Public Offering. When a private company starts selling shares publicly.

Investment fund – it is like a “safe” where several people put money saved.

In 2019, Bang Si-hyuk would have informed investors of Hybe Corporation that the company would have no plans for an IPO, that is, they would not open the shares to the public. The IPO would make the value of the shares explode, investors would get a fortune with this growth in the purchases of shares of Hybe.

As Bang PD announced that they had no plans for an IPO, investors sold their shares for a lower price. These shares were bought by INVESTMENT FUNDS LINKED TO BANG PD.

In 2020, Hybe Corporation announced the IPO, the shares that were bought by the funds linked to Bang PD generated a PROFIT of approximately 200–400 BILLION WONS!

This practice constitutes fraud, use of privileged information, market manipulation and is a FINANCIAL CRIME! South Korean law punishes the criminal with a fine and a sentence of 5 years up to life imprisonment depending on the values profited from this infraction.
