In an interesting development, Indian Embassy @EOIBeijing officials met with representatives of Xinhua @XHNews at its headquarters in Beijing and "exchanged views on issues of mutual interest."

-The meeting raises hope that Chinse journalists may soon be stationed in Delhi.

-India has not imposed a blanket ban on Chinese journalists, but their presence in Delhi remains extremely limited or absent due to visa reciprocity issues and political sensitivities.

-In 2023, India denied visa extension to the last remaining Xinhua correspondent, effectively leaving zero Chinese journalists in India for the first time since normalization of ties in the 1980s

-@MEAIndia had clarified that Chinese journalists with valid visas could continue reporting, but Beijing and New Delhi were in a reciprocal media standoff.

-Through 2024–2026, despite broader diplomatic thaw and return of Chinese business professionals, there has been no official announcement of China re-establishing a full media bureau in Delhi.

-The current Chinese media bureau/offices in India are largely manged by Indian staff/journalists
