Pale Blue Dot is a photo of Earth that was taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990 from a distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) as it was leaving our solar system. This is what Carl Sagan said about the photo:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there β on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.β
@amyfaithho@doximity @ACEPNow @EmergencyDocs Pediatrics here, and yeah, I understand, I see you. A part of our struggle is also being underpaid and under respected when all we care for is the vulnerable part of the population with the most hope for a better future...
Tipping our cap to you, Royals fans.
Thank you for all of your support and dedication, we canβt wait to be back with our people in our city again.

@MSNBC When you use a stock photo for presenting such an important issue, why would you use a Children's Hospital image @chocchildrens when the problem is general ERs not having pediatric trained ER providers. The problem is not funding Children's Hospitals sufficiently.
@ProofofSteak911 @DGlaucomflecken Please do pediatrician with trainer...the guidance to not hurt oneself writes itself, assessment of fitness to participate in fitness (aka sports physicals)
@OtherNamowal @GeekBoyEric The ride in the 80's and 90's had cushioned banana seats. The cushioning made a difference, even if the person sitting in the back was squished...lol!
Regards,
Former squished person, now with back pain
@DrJenGunter It's been 2 weeks here in parts of California, and I still ask patients with clearly upper respiratory symptoms to mask. A few people don't, but most people have been open to doing so. I'm worried about our staff for sure.
@SueRomulus@shannonrwatts From what I read (obviously second hand source), it was an epitaph should they die from a mass shooting. Still absolutely awful. But this written exercise is about how each person's life affects their families, friends, community. There is a ripple effect: build empathy not fear
@SueRomulus@shannonrwatts An epitaph is an acknowledgment of a life. It is a way for each person in that class to express the value of their own lives, and get a glimpse into that of their classmates: it fosters empathy. It is not a scare tactic or a preparedness exercise (drills).
I'm not allowed to carry/use a pen with the name of a medication, even one I don't even prescribe, bc of the risk of it influencing medical care. #SunshineAct
But a Supreme Court Justice is allowed to receive millions of dollars in the form of luxury vacations & not disclose? π€¬
