If you have the presupposition that Scexit must happen, then a new currency is, indeed, a necessity.
But it is clear it would be economically catastrophic.
So a reasonable person would reconsider the presupposition.
Scotland is a significant net exporter of electricity with plans to generate much greater capacity. Surely the Scottish Government can quickly produce national guidance to assist planning authorities with the determination of these applications?
CONFIRMED: Israeli FM and Israeli intelligence engaged in an aggressive operation to get Karim Khan fired from ICC and attacked on multiple fronts. It’s clear that both US and UK governments were aware of this and have quietly endorsed this dirty operation - all to shield Israel (and themselves) from accountability for war crimes & genocide. Let this sink in….
@80_mcswan Do these muppets not understand people now have the internet to check things or do they think that we just accept things as true?
Glasgow's overall recorded crime rate is roughly 71 to 82 incidents per 1,000 residents.
City of Westminster (London): ~312–432 — by far the highest
Manchester (city areas): Often ~154–173
Glasgow 81-84 per 1,000
Thomas Kerr would hate you to RT the truth.
For the second time in as many months Nazis have rioted in Glasgow. They targeted anyone who isn't white, as well as those daring to stand up to them.
@ThomasKerrMSP claims 'Scotland is lawless'. Will he condemn the Reform politician who spoke at this 'rally' with violent Nazis?
@MacmaghnaisR@lentaylor64 But nobody in England wants the Scot’s to leave, or not allowed to vote in a referendum. Nats will allow new Scot’s from all over the world to vote, but they don’t like English people living in Scotland, paying taxes have the same privileges.
If you believe that Scotland should be independent of England, then you must realise that, to achieve that, we must be seen at every level of our society as Scottish, not British. The outside world's opinion will help shape the decisions of its politicians on whether or not to recognise our independent sovereignty.
The main way people judge how we wish to be governed is through our politicians. They receive far more airtime around the world than any Scottish celebrity or even the Tartan Army. When something in Scotland becomes international news, such as the Commonwealth Games, our politicians will inevitably be interviewed by the international media. You would think that, at the same time, they would be promoting Scotland's unique identity as separate from England.
But for that to happen, we first need genuinely independent Scottish politicians, not those who work within the English political system while earning a wage from the colonial regime we wish to leave.
Two of the previous three First Ministers, both leaders of a Scottish independence party, have now demonstrated their allegiance to British rule. Nicola Sturgeon is on record describing herself as "British" on two occasions.
Now the current First Minister of Scotland has been seen singing the English national anthem while standing on a side platform during Games taking place in Scotland. In what country outside England would people accept that from their political leaders?
In most other countries, such politicians would be removed from office by their own party. Politicians from across the political spectrum would condemn them as being pro-English, and their political career would effectively be over.
The time has come to call out English government sympathisers within the Scottish independence movement. Such sympathisers should be publicly challenged and removed from positions of influence. English nationalism in Scotland must not be tolerated.
We are Scottish, and only Scottish.
These are the fascists Police Scotland allowed to march through Glasgow.
Racist thugs throwing a traffic cone at a non-white person in the street.
They are violent extremists.
I can’t get my head around the Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom saying it’s “irrelevant” how many children Israel has killed in Gaza.
I don’t understand how anyone can think like this. Demons.
After watching the Cairngorms wildfire burn for more than a week, it struck me that Spain has developed a remarkably practical tool that genuinely helps communities stay informed.
The free Wildfire Watch app does much more than issue alerts. It provides:
📍 Live locations of active wildfires.
🚦 A simple traffic-light style status showing how incidents are progressing.
🚒 Information on firefighting resources deployed.
💬 A community comments section where local people can share observations, photos and updates.
🔔 Notifications when new fires are reported nearby. The app also publishes official updates from regional fire authorities.
As Scotland continues to tackle the Cairngorms wildfire, technology like this could improve public awareness, reduce misinformation and help communities understand what’s happening in real time. The current wildfire emergencies across Spain have shown just how valuable accessible, accurate information can be during fast-moving incidents.
Perhaps it’s time to ask whether Scotland should develop something similar—a national wildfire information platform bringing together emergency services, land managers and the public.
In an age where climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of wildfires, timely information isn’t just convenient—it’s another tool that can help protect people, property and our natural environment.

This is an important document. Chris Dorigné-Thomson's frame of reference is outside the UK, informed by the international politics of decolonization. The acute geopolitical analysis it contains is essential to an understanding of Scotland's true interest in deciding its fit with the international community - not one that reflects the priorities of the coloniser and its immediate allies.
This is not to say Scotland should not be on good terms with all the great powers; it should and will be. But to shut down our options to a UK viewport as Jim Sillars does, condemning Scotland to remain an outpost of the nuclear weaponry of a state with a foreign policy marked out today by belligerence verging one instability, is the sign of little more than despair and the inability to see beyond an Anglo-British foreign policy that has dragged us over the lifespan of an annexation-as-union into serial foreign wars that Scots and Scotland never wanted and never will want.
A long piece but well worth taking the time to read it.
