Calling Mel’s autism a burden, and people saying they prefer s1 Mel over s2 because she’s “annoying” now (she’s just showing autistic traits), implying she should tough it out and mask again instead of her coworkers showing a bit of compassion and try to understand her..okay man
@beesniamhss i don’t think u understand the level of autism isn’t just something you turn on and off it is part of you, requiring someone to mask around you is damaging
so the solution is basically for her to start masking more to not bother her coworkers but the coworkers can’t try to learn to understand her… because autistic people are always expected to try and mold ourselves to fit neurotypical standards
@beesniamhss she wouldn’t have to mask they could just accept her for who she is and acknowledge WHY she does certain things at the wrong time, not just write her off for it. if she does one thing not socially acceptable it doesn’t mean she has to change her whole demeanour around them
@beesniamhss you’re missing a key word you used. HAVE. she doesn’t have to do anything is the point…. if these people don’t respond well to her as who she is then she doesn’t have to anything else to form a bond with them she can just continuing being herself and that’s that
@beesniamhss@cafeconritalin@melissaskings why does the burden then fall upon mel to stop being herself, why does it not apply to the people who aren’t interested to just… get on with their day
