The recent discussion of #MareOfEastown accents doesn't seem to take note that the Philadelphia version, appropriately for the show, is very much rooted in the Catholic community, where the former Philadelphia high school Cardinal Dougherty was referred to as "Carnal Dogerty."

@howardrodman @harikunzru Baldwin is certainly great and, even more, speaks to the present moment. But remember his fondness for Mailer's outspokenness, even when he was challenging him. Just think of how Mailer took on Reagan and Nixon, and how he would have taken on Trump.
