@dmallo_phylo@3rdreviewer @dposada_ I've learned a lot from your work @dmallo_phylo and @dposada_. I also have very fond memories of this time.
And thank you @3rdreviewer for the high praise, you made me come back from my self-imposed twitter exile.

@BioMickWatson "A zebra crossing with a central island is two separate crossings (see Rule 20)" https://t.co/7iAgWG0yqK
Thus most of those are not zebra crossings: no belisha beacons, no zigzag markings. Terrible, half-baked design, yes. Cyclists should do better, yes. "Supposed to stop", no.
@lemire The original study does not allow for the certainty expressed by the columnist. From https://t.co/id6LvsKD8U, the key message: "We are uncertain whether wearing masks or N95/P2 respirators helps to slow the spread of respiratory viruses based on the studies we assessed."
@JohnDCook@lemire Most of the studies included in this meta-analysis _are_ from before 2019, see https://t.co/32Sx8GEWle
As mentioned in the thread and by the authors themselves, mask intervention for influenza didn't work b/c "adherence with interventions was low in many studies".
@daniela_witten Did you just described UK's narrative CV?
jokes aside. Although not an explicit core competency, from recomendation letters to diversity and teaching phylosophy statements, it's hard to get the foot on the door without some tearjerker docs.

@agapow int64 is from numpy, while Int64 is an extension type from Pandas. The main difference is that Int64 is a nullable integer https://t.co/7pMJA1fUNr. With int64 for instance, presence of an NaN forces the type to become float; with Int64 you can have NaNs
@RomainStuder By doing that, you don't need to worry much about the main theme of the server (you can follow ppl across servers).
To see a full list of servers by category and moderation: https://t.co/sw5grOqTtb
It's also suggested to avoid very big servers due to possible bandwith issues
@RomainStuder https://t.co/ztozdfZ0ZX
https://t.co/9XQQEJ8Dq4
https://t.co/MNvbsPqkMw
These are newer ones, with more liberal rules. My advice is to chose a server whose rules you're comfortable with (some, like https://t.co/mNkguYRJeN or even https://t.co/xJlYQXhbum have too many rules)
Quite a few tweets missing from my timeline today. I guess it's my cue to leave the birdsite. I will not delete my account but will visit here much less often.
See you on https://t.co/qbQzDBfLvR and thanks for all the fish.
@idavydov https://t.co/ztozdfYtap
https://t.co/9XQQEJ85Aw
https://t.co/k9mkjrdgwl
The server does matter since they can have specific, enforceable rules. The ones mentioned above are more relaxed. See also https://t.co/xJlYQXgDEO for another, stricter option.
@netflix really has to rethink its support of conspirational, pseudoscientific "documentaries". Most paying customers will not want to sponsor it, once they realise it. Alternatives like Amazon Prime or Dysney are a much better investment in our future.
In his new Netflix “documentary” #AncientApocalypse, @Graham__Hancock has declared war on archaeologists
His rhetoric sows distrust in experts, and #Atlantis conspiracy theories promote white supremacy
Buckle up, it’s time for an #ARCHAEOLOGY THREAD 🧵
