@Chet_Cannon@chenweihua@CNN Ahh the irony of ignorant "Taiwan" defenders. Please know that there is no country on earth that recognises "Taiwan" as a country.
@FormlessWay@zhao_dashuai Of course not. It's not about trust, it's about working together for the common interests while being prepared to defend yourself.
@cspanwj@ElbridgeColby@lylegoldstein the civil war. If the US wants to escalate by fighting China in their own backyard in another civil war, just don't involve the rest of the world by turning it nuclear.
@cspanwj@ElbridgeColby@lylegoldstein Really good discussion. Great points by Lyle who easily won. A lot of clever spin but very little substance by the ASPI-referencing, threat inflating war mongering gov defense guy. China won't tolerate 2 China's, so they will throw everything they've got in a resumption of...
@DDGZDY @osmastro@Telegraph@sophia_yan The world will not do so, for it is too costly for the World to make it costly for China. Such is the nature of a tightly coupled system, be it trade or otherwise.
@ildfluer @osmastro@KPIXtv The Jenga block being pulled out isn't destabilising, it's the tower of blocks movement & crash that's destabilising. The two are not in any kind of causal relationship because the tower of blocks was itching to destabilise things.
@LoveBeGoodNow @wuguorong1977 @xYOULLBEDEADx@AmbQinGang "Theft of land is evil". You can say that again. Oh wait, where's the US again? Oh oh...I take it back. Theft of land is okay under the rules based order depending on who's doing it.
China's position, in contrast, remains unchanged. It has no desire to invade Taiwan. It overwhelmingly prefers a peaceful solution as its huge patience since 1949 shows. An invasion would be a last resort. It has not invaded any country since 1949. Compare that with the US.5/5
@lylegoldstein 1/2 The problem for the West is it's got such a short memory and such an extreme sense of entitlement, it can't even begin to come to terms with the inevitability of non Western powers rising again. So, it will happily endanger 23 million non Western people, invent any narrative,
@DerrickDuruaku@martianredplan1 @JunshengZeng @MoNDefense Taiwan doesn't stand a chance without America and Biden wouldn't know clear if it came up and slapped him on the face. Besides, he was stupid to try to make strategic ambiguity clear.
