@saikatc Generally speaking increased taxes never benefit the purported beneficiaries but rather end up being diverted into some administrative black hole while politicians net worth suddenly goes parabolic. And then they want to make it illegal to investigate government fraud
@Rajatsoni 15% of earnings were deducted for social security for decades. Sadly that money has already been spent. Sort of like having a Bitcoin wallet that goes poof because of a security flaw.
Taxation never solves the problems politicians claim. Most of those taxes are consumed by administrative costs and laundering a portion into politician pockets. Look at California's homeless crisis despite massive funding to solve the problem. Also the high speed rail. The funds never made it to their stated target. Where did those billions go?
@TheBCHPodcast A DEFI platform where you can borrow against BCH with 250% LTV and never worry about redemption or liquidation might do the trick. If collateral gets redeemed after a week users eventually stop using the platform.
@Rajatsoni No car for some 12+ years but I can walk to the grocery store & bank & local park & the bay & a variety of restaurants. Shopping is a short bus or Uber trip & I can take a train to MIA or FLL airports as well as downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale or the Orlando airport.
@LayahHeilpern I grew up in a conservative home so I literally have never consumed an alcoholic beverage in my life - no temptation as I do not see the appeal. Ditto for cigarettes, cigars & other forms of smoking - disgusting smell which I cannot understand how people get addicted to that.
Native tongue is English but I speak with my wife (Colombiana) in Spanish. I feel comfortable watching Spanish video content particularly from Colombian / Venezuelan content creators. When I did YouTube videos in both languages I noticed in English I unfortunately use a lot of "ums" and "you knows" but in Spanish far fewer pauses of uncertainty (though for technical terms I did have to research Spanish equivalents) Many Uber drivers in South Florida are from Latam region so Spanish is just part of living here.
@TheBCHPodcast Spanish names are more appealing...
Catalina, Angela, Natalia, Maria, Jessica, Lorena, Carmen, Susana, Rosa, Penelope, Margaritas, Lilian, Katia, Daniella, you get the idea
Social security is a perfect example - have 15% of your earnings go the government to fund retirement and instead of investing it in an S&P500 or Total Market Index Fund they literally have already spent every dime. None of that exists. So they lie about inflation, increase retirement age & start referring to Social Security as an entitlement program which needs to be cut.
@BuenoForMiami Every time I travel outside the US I get that feeling. At the same time I recognize that there are many aspects of life in South Florida which are appealing compared to other cities.
