The meeting of the fellows of @Royal_College today was extremely disappointing.
I could rant for pages and pages about all the reasons why, but I want to focus on one particular idea that @smoffattbruce1 kept refrencing:
equity.
Nothing about this meeting was equitable:

Life of a PGY5 in 2020 “Your @Royal_College exam is cancelled. JK it’s still on. JK it actually is cancelled.”... 6 week waiting period. “We won’t tell u your exam date in Sept until mid August. JK! Our bad, we meant in June”
@Royal_College Many of us have already been required to submit schedule requests for August. September requests will be required soon. 6 wks to offload shifts onto our over worked (+/- new) ED colleagues during a pandemic is unacceptable. @Royal_College, please commit to more than 6 wks notice.
There are 11,283 identified cases of #COVID19 in Canada as of this evening & at least 138 deaths. And based on hospitalization/ICU admissions reported by provinces this week, there doesn’t appear to be much reason to be optimistic about our curve-flattening yet. In fact...

@Royal_College In Ontario, major delays in processing these licenses—strict deadlines; few registration committee meetings; unwilling to process application until every day of residency rotations completed—results in ~3mo turnaround before clinical practice is possible—this is not the solution
With the declaration of #COVID-19 pandemic & the rapidly evolving situation in Canada, the Royal College has postponed all exams, including the written exams for March and April, which will have an impact on oral exams this spring. #MedED
