It’s not child marriages but girl child marriages. Women aren’t marrying little boys. It’s men all over the world chasing or marrying literal girl children
@sebsgetawaycar@mirrorballmais I agree with the TFL app! I'm dyspraxic and so my navigation is horrific and I get SO stressed when I don't know what I'm doing, but I found the TFL app so helpful!
During the heatwave one of the common denier screaming points was ‘we fly away on holiday for these temperatures!’
and
‘Other countries cope!!’
Other countries:
I’ve been to a lot of very hot places. Never in my life would I have expected to feel, stepping out my door in Britain, the same blast of overpowering heat like in Baghdad or Aden.
This heat is not only a climate emergency, it is class war. The rich burn the planet, then buy air conditioning, private pools and second homes while workers are left in overheated flats, unsafe jobs, failed public services and burning cities. Climate Action Now!
while you are busy mocking and patronising europeans for them being concerned about weather they are not used to experiencing, you are ignoring the larger problem at hand which is to do with climate change. what will need to happen for these stupid ass people to stop acting like
might be biased because i’m british but i don’t think we’re “complaining” about the heat, i think it’s common knowledge to be frustrated at the fact you can’t regulate your body temperature
@harmonykendal@Benleo Yes! I'm in Scotland and it's very much the same here. They think we live like they do in Outlander, when it's quite different from that.
I think when foreign people consider British heatwaves, they only consider factors like temperature and presence of AC.
The actual issue is the fact that a hot day in Edinburgh is 17 hours long, but only 14 hours long in Athens.
It just doesn’t cool overnight at all.
The "just get AC" solution doesn't really work for all those global south countries who are experiencing crop failure and famine because of the rise in global temperature, does it?
seriously tired of the heatwave in Europe discourse because if you are unable to understand that Germany and Texas are not on the same line of latitude, I’m not sure how to help you
