The KDIGO 2024 CKD Guideline, based on the best current evidence, indicates exciting new approaches to management strategies and treatment options for people living with #CKD. The goal is to improve symptom management, disease modification, and person-centered approaches while also recognizing the heterogeneity of CKD. The fact that new therapies exist and others are being evaluated heralds an exciting time for people living with #kidney diseases.

I’ve been trying to improve my hx probing skills lately, while I’m rotating in our RHU, and this is sooo worth noting 📌

A patient, initially referred for “acute dysphagia to liquids,” turned out to have hydrophobia instead. On probing, pt sustained a dog bite 2 mos prior, but refused vaccination due to fear of vaccine SEs that were sensationalized in the last few years. Pt died a few days later.

Also been administering lots of rabies shots recently. Please consult the nearest animal bite center following an animal bite or saliva exposure ‼️
