Buckle in, this is a long one…

Where do I start? What a magical season this was for the @EAMaddenNFL_MCS . I would say the last 2 months of Madden is the best I’ve ever gotten to watch and call. The talent of these players is so immense and watching them grow and thrive continues to be a joy.

A few thank yous. To my guy @OneGreatUser , you’re my brudda. We said at the beginning of this year “you and me” and we did it. Just wish @tdavisbrand was there too, but he texted us before every show. Couldn’t do any of this without you guys.

@Skimbooo23 thanks for lending your knowledge to the booth multiple times this year. Your knowledge of the game never ceases to amaze me.

@MasterTes I said it yesterday and I mean it, thank you for coming in and making yourself a part of the community. You have immeasurable talent and energy and every sees it each and every day.

To everyone at EA and Whisper, including our fearless leaders Jose and Kerry, thank you for your guidance through a wild and sometimes rocky year. It took some time to figure it out, but boy did we hit our stride and we were better because of it.

To the friends along the way, thank you for making this year unforgettable. I’ve gotten to hang out with old friends like @Bobbyy_V and @BeastNamedJon and make incredible new friends I will cherish for life (yeah I’m looking at you @cxratops and @GoatGeezy ). You all make life worth living. It’s these relationships that are everything to me and I never take that for granted.

As for what’s next, I wish I had an answer cause that would make it easy. I’ve been here 6 years and it’s been the greatest joy getting to be a voice in your ears for these games. I don’t know what the future holds, as much as people think otherwise. I hope there is an opportunity to keep doing this and supporting my family, but that is something that will be decided in the coming months.

For now, thank you for listening, cheering, watching, and experiencing this season. It’s been one of my greatest honors ♥️

Long one on CFM implications from today’s Madden Update. I’ve forwarded along my feedback to the good folks at EA, but re: coaching abilities. Hear me out!

Today arose a balance problem that can be solved by only allowing one instance of an ability to be loaded in per weekly strategy.

As it stands, with a “triple stack”, you can do any of the following things via overlapping coach abilities w/ HC, OC and DC:

- get +3 speed, +6 accel, +9 COD, +6 Strength to the ENTIRE team

- get a 20% chance at a dev trait upgrade anytime you run a weekly mini-game. You can run up to 6 per week with After School Tutor

- get +21 MCV, ZCV, Press to all DB’s

- get +21 to RBK, RBP, RBF to all your OL

- get +21 PMV, FMV, BSH to all your Edges

TWENTY ONE. MULTIPLE BUCKETS.

All those have a fourth attribute I couldn’t recall top of mind and the list goes on. Anything that gave +4 to an attribute now gives +7. Which is *only* a bad thing when you consider that you can multiply the effect of ANY ability by 3x just by running it on all 3 coaches. It’s so obvious that it must be intentional but, it feels excessive.

I suspect that a lot of the “wording” based abilities (slightly more chance of X, significantly more chance of X, etc.) are also probably stacking in effect since we know for a fact the numerical ones are. Haven’t done enough testing to confirm but I’m pretty confident. That also gets dicey. 3x Mr. Dream + 3x Island Kings? Is that playable?

On the ground level of CFM, it’s made the ability stack more important even than personnel you’re putting on the field. And created a haves / have-nots divide between teams who can and can’t afford these game breaking stacks. Winning teams farming coach points will have insurmountable and permanent advantages over developing teams.

Any niche criticism aside, it also needs to be said that this extensive of an update in mid November with all the love and care and attention that very clearly went into all of this new stuff we got is incredible. Coach Madden’s spirit is shining through and it’s all a massive W. Good on you and we appreciate the (successful) efforts.
