Nigel Farage’s Attack on the Equality Act Should Terrify Every Woman in Britain

Nigel Farage just went after the Equality Act. The law that protects women, pensioners, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled people, and anyone facing racial or religious discrimination. He stood on stage and dismissed it as “woke.” That tells you everything.

For those who have not read it, the Equality Act is the backbone of fairness in modern Britain. It says your boss cannot pay you less because you are a woman. It says landlords cannot refuse you because you are Black or disabled. It says you cannot be sacked for being gay, bi or trans. It keeps basic decency alive in a country that still struggles with prejudice.

So when Farage attacks that Act, what he is really signalling in my view is a desire to roll back your rights. It would make it easier for employers to discriminate, for politicians to divide, for hate to hide behind “free speech.” He dresses it up as common sense but it is regression.

Women should pay attention. Without the Equality Act there is no protection against unequal pay, workplace harassment, or pregnancy discrimination. The same men who call feminism “nonsense” are the ones who might scrap your legal shield and then tell you to toughen up.

If you are disabled or elderly the Equality Act is what forces councils and companies to make buildings accessible and services fair. Remove it and you remove your access to everyday life.

If you are Black, Asian, mixed-race, or any shade of not white British, it is what protects you from open racism in employment, education, and policing.

If you are gay, lesbian, bi, or trans, it is the only thing standing between you and a return to the days when discrimination was not just tolerated but encouraged.

Farage’s crowd calls this “woke.” I call it human.

Look closer at what Reform UK is really planning. They talk about freedom while pushing ideas that could take yours away. They talk about reform while looking to dismantle the few laws that still keep this country fair.

So to every woman who thinks he sounds refreshing, think again. He is not your friend. He is not your voice. He built a career on resentment and will trade your rights for applause without blinking.

To every person of colour, to every queer person, to every disabled citizen, to anyone who knows what it feels like to be othered understand this is not politics as usual. It is the oldest story in history. When times get hard the powerful look for someone to blame. Farage has made a fortune out of pointing the finger.

He says he wants to make Britain great again. But great for who?

Not for women. Not for minorities. Not for anyone who believes equality should be protected not mocked.

The Equality Act exists because people fought for it. People marched argued suffered and refused to back down. Do not hand your rights to a man who sees equality as an inconvenience.

Vote for the future not the past.
