Harmed families deserve confidence that lessons from past maternity tragedies are learned. I’ve written to James Murray following Dr Kirkup’s resignation from the Amos Investigation, seeking assurances that the role of “normal birth” ideology will not be swept under the carpet.

-Chief exec ICB still in a job
-Chief exec NMHT was kept in his job till retiring before the Inquiry
-Incompetent psychiatrists who don’t understand the MHA still in their job.
-Psychiatrists who didn’t even make notes of MDTs still in a job
-Psychiatrists who did failed assessments still in a job
-Psychiatrist who discharged against Trust protocols still in a job.
-4 failed sections, psychiatrists still in a job
-No risk assessments by psychiatrists still in a job
-Failed Psyc report to court…still in a job
-Failed to give depot multiple times…..still in a job

WHAT SIN DOES ONE NEED TO COMMIT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE…..can the Secretary of State for Health please let me know.

Drife is 100% right - and the Association of Radical Midwives (and the many senior midwives & educators closely associated with it) deserve much more scrutiny in relationship ongoing avoidable harm in maternity services.

They led a hospital Trust that failed, tormented mothers/survivors, babies.
Have ‘honour’ and hand your CBEs/honours back.
Let’s all be witness to a fresh approach to candour.
How many failures have we at the Nottingham Inquiry already pointed out. Yet no one has stepped down (see my post on the topic)
The alternative is to make them household names for all the wrong reasons.

NMSI made 1,112 recs since inception. That number doesn’t demonstrate progress-it highlights the problem. Mat services aren’t unsafe because of 1,112 individual problems. They’re unsafe because of a handful of deep-rooted structural & cultural issues that still haven’t been fixed
