It seems to me that the portrayal of the Labour win as shallow because of the vote share is misleading. This was a ‘get the tories out’ election. For different people that generally meant voting Labour, Lib Dem, Green or Reform. But in doing so they all knew they’d get a Labour government and did it deliberately. In reality even Reform voters actually voted for Keir Starmer to be PM.

Is your baby a yawner?

As with adults, yawning is perfectly normal and generally a sign that your baby is becoming drowsy… but not always.

If you find your baby yawning during periods of full wakefulness, this may also be a sign that they are feeling overstimulated.

The early years are humankind’s most active period of brain development and there’s a ton that your baby is taking in: new sights, sounds, environments.

It can be a lot to absorb - which is why it’s important to alternate periods of intense stimulation with opportunities for quieter forms of play (during which they can discover and explore the world at their own pace). 

How can you tell if your baby may be getting overstimulated?

Telltale signs include yawning, hiccuping, waving or kicking arms and legs in an agitated fashion, and of course, crying.

If you’re seeing these signs outside of a pending sleep window, try changing your baby’s environment. Find someplace less bright, less noisy and - sometimes, less populated, for a little quiet time. You may find it works wonders.

The Cultural Learning Alliance report shows decimation of the ‘Arts’ in schools since 2010. For many children this is their salvation-it is why they go to school. Rebalancing the curriculum, removing the EBacc & investing in teacher development in the ‘Arts’ should be a priority.
