I would say, at a local level especially, the starting point is to contact your local elected councillor. If the hundreds of thousands who go on protests also sent letters to their councillors, we'd see real change. Sadly some are more interested in a day out with placards.

You can’t realistically support mass civil disobedience against the status quo on climate change unless you have first adopted a lifestyle that avoids burning carbon unnecessarily. Individual self-sacrifice is, surely, the logical and essential starting point for protest?

@skyeandfrisa Hi Dave. I'm telling everyone I can, I even wrote to @Ianblackford_MP. I'm noticing a but if an increase of Himalayan Balsam on Skye I hope someone can step in now while it's a manageable problem. It's too late for us in lancashire now I fear.

@EmmaKennedy This is great advice emma, but there is another valuable thing you can do.. let your local councillor know you want to see less mown grass, not with a ranty tweet but a thoughtful email or letter. Not as exciting as a protest march, but likelier to get results! Please retweet!

Despite thinking on the whole you do a good job, I voted green, you have taken no action on environmental emergency, still wedkilling around trees, no reduced mowing, no strategy for nature. I hope this is addresses in the upcoming Preston green space strategy, in not hopeful..

@fungi_flowers @StevenW33436788 I am speaking from experience here, for years I thought like you and didn't embark on projects where I couldn't see collection happening, or had tried and been told no, more recently I have best asked for reduced mowing (no collect) and have had mcch more sources...
