Rep Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) propose bill to cap gifts to Supreme Court justices:
It “bans justices from receiving gifts valued at more than $50 in a single instance or more than $100 in aggregate over the course of a year. It would also cap gifts of personal hospitality, which are currently unregulated”
The only judges in America allowed to accept gifts, trips and presents from the public are Supreme Court justices. How is that insanity allowed? Another colossal oversight by the framers and a failure of every Chief Justice not to envision someone as corrupt as Clarence Thomas.
It’s expensive to be poor, especially in states like Oklahoma, where politicians pass laws to punish poverty rather than address systemic issues that lead to homelessness.
SB 1854 criminalizes homelessness by fining or jailing people for sleeping on public land. If there are no shelter beds available and someone can’t afford a motel to sleep, how can they afford to pay a $50 fine for sleeping outside? It passed the state house 77-18 and now moves to the Governor’s desk.
Oklahoma’s poverty rate is among the highest in the nation.
At the state’s minimum wage of $7.25, a person must work 92 hours/week to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment. 90% of Oklahomans earning minimum wage are adults.
Instead of criminalizing poverty, here are policy proposals the Republican controlled state legislature should pass:
- Increase minimum wage
- Paid medical leave
- Child care tax credit
- Affordable and habitable housing
- Alternatives to payday loans
- Expand Earned Income Tax Credit
- State-level child tax credit
🆘 I hope that by posting this debate and information, more people across the U.S. will start paying attention to what’s happening in the Oklahoma State Legislature.
Today, Oklahoma passed a School Chaplain bill, allowing public schools to hire chaplains, further eroding the barrier between church and state.
GOP lawmakers continue pushing legislation to increase religious influence in government. Here are some proposals introduced in Oklahoma rooted in Christian Nationalism:
- Designating the Bible as the Official State Book.
- Establishing the nation's first taxpayer-funded religious charter school.
- Displaying the Ten Commandments at the state capitol.
- Mandating the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom.
- Using Bible verses to justify spanking children with disabilities in school.
- Religious school tax credits.
- Banning the teaching of evolution in public schools.
- The governor claiming the state of Oklahoma for Christ in his inaugural speech.
While I support and defend religious freedom, I oppose those in positions of power who use their authority to legislate their religion onto society as a whole. We are a constitutional republic which is a form of democracy, NOT a theocracy.
SB 36 passed the #okleg House 54-37

Today the Supreme Court hears yet ANOTHER case about abortion and if women can get emergency care at a hospital. Women’s basic rights shouldn’t be up for debate. The Court must affirm women’s access to emergency treatment. And we must codify Roe.
Lara, you know why there was "a moratorium on the RNC for 40 years"? Because the RNC was caught cheating. The RNC was placed under a 1982 Consent decree for voter caging. Voter caging hinders an eligible voter’s ability to vote. The process involves efforts to identify and disenfranchise improperly registered voters solely on the basis of undeliverable mail. It often leads to the unwarranted purging of election rolls of otherwise eligible voters.
So, given the continued lies about the 2020 election and your daddy-in-law claiming if he loses in 2024 it's because the election is rigged, you're planning to have your people "physically handle the ballots"--and we're supposed to think that's a good idea?
Huge change—Airlines operating in the U.S. will soon have to AUTOMATICALLY REFUND you when your flight is cancelled or delayed (3 hours domestic, 6 hours into’l) or bag is lost. Refunds within 7 business days. The new Biden DOT rule starts in 6 months.
.@jordanklepper: Fox said Trump can’t sit in a cold room for 8 hours. Are we talking about Donald Trump or an old English sheepdog? I thought they were claiming Trump was the young candidate. Now that he needs sympathy, he's a poor elderly man crippled by the weight of his own body against a chair
Holy shit, the North America Building Trade Union (NABTU) DESTROYS trump in this video, and has endorsed President Biden, the most pro-Union President in history!!!
The irony of Trump coming up with the ‘Fake News!’ epithet to describe mainstream media outlets is that he was literally running an orchestrated and coordinated Fake News operation with David Pecker at the time.
