The #SHCo is happy to support all our federal firefighters during this shutdown, as we delivered dinner to our brothers & sisters at the APG Fire Dept this evening. No one should work without pay, especially those in public safety, who put their lives on the line on a daily basis
Midsummer morning, and the air is filled with skylarks, the sun painting stripes on the long grasses, and the early warmth of the day chasing away the traces of mist over the hills.
I have to admit that this is a day I always dread a teeny bit, it feels like the pinnacle of the year, as if all the flowers and colours have been leading up to this one day, the solstice, and now we begin the slide down the other side. But then I remember the long, warm, bright days of July and August, the misty mornings of September, the vibrance and musty sweetness of October and November, and it's impossible to feel sad. There's so much beauty still ahead of us and I honestly can't wait for the show.
There’s a midsummer warmth in the air.
A soft morning light awakening Hare.
Today there is still. Space to linger,
time to roam,
For evening will wait, there’s no hurrying her home.
#SummerSolstice is reluctant to give day to night,
So Hare can breathe deep in the endless light

As English teachers we bring certain biases to our classrooms. We generally enjoy reading, writing and talking about both.
We romanticise those things because we are passionate about them.
Unfortunately we sometimes lose sight of the fact that many students dislike them. 🧵
“Be a good steward of your gifts. Protect your time. Feed your inner life. Avoid too much noise. Read good books, have good sentences in your ears. Be by yourself as often as you can. Walk. Take the phone off the hook. Work regular hours.”
Jane Kenyon via @wiobyrne
Is it ok to ‘just’ want to be a teacher? Got told today I’m selling myself short as a bog-standard teacher. Kind of upsetting in all honesty when people use terms like that
You can’t tell teachers…
‘You have such an easy job’
‘You don’t work many hours’
‘You get summers off’
And then ignore the fact that the US is currently short more than 300,000 teachers.
If it’s so great, why do we currently have the biggest teaching shortage in US history?
I wish less people glorified accomplishing things before 30. More exploring. More starting over at 40. More finding your true passion at 50. More moving across the country at 60. People get complacent because they think life has a time limit.
It doesn't.
Celebrate lifelong evolution.
"A longing to wander tears my heart when I hear trees rustling in the wind at evening.
...
Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree. He wants to be nothing except what he is. That is home. That is happiness."
— Hermann Hesse
@JudyCorbett I read your posts regularly and every time wonder how you can stand to live in a place as fascinating and inspiring as Gwydir. Don’t you find yourself melting every day?!
@Mr_Rablin TY: Present us with opportunities to pursue what and how we’ll learn about a need/interest we have. Honor our setting off on our own but make us aware of what else (topics, means, other?) is out there. Help coordinate elective collaboration among the like-minded. (Feb 23)
