Usual links suspects to the fore this week, could make a good case for several.
Dealing with the long shots at the moment, already backed five at 100+ who I can see outplaying their odds:
Spaun 120
Scott 190
Perez 260
Woodland 370
Weisberger 630
Never look forward to the Open with as much enthusiasm as the Masters/US Open but when the week arrives it’s hard not to get caught up in the build up. Sky do a fine job with their wall-to-wall coverage.
Played Birkdale a few times, typical links - can’t remember a single hole!
The Burns/Theegala tee time looks a solid candidate to make progress tonight.
Theegala leading tee-2-green stats and his short game will become more beneficial if they toughen the course up. Just needs to hole a few putts.
Looks overpriced at 90 compared to those around him.
Prices north of 40 seem v fair for Spieth this week. Past champion, elite scrambler, talking his game up after Augusta.
Xander also primed for a big showing. The smaller/flatter greens should help him capitalise on his elite level ball striking.
Could be going in heavy..
@DatGoneIt77@golfbola Quite like Niemann at a nice number (140/150). Seems his recent LIV win is being overlooked and was decent in the PGA. Good ball flight for the wind.
@DatGoneIt77 Yeah, quite like him actually, looked good in the PGA until his putter went cold in R4, which was bizarre as I thought his stroke had looked really solid before that. Could be some carnage if the wind forecast is right..
@DatGoneIt77 No mate, nothing this week on PGA - been a bit busy so not had chance to have a proper look. He looks a bit short though..
Backed Veerman in Turkey at a big price and that’s about it.
@DatGoneIt77 Hmm, mine would be too if I’d blown a 6 shot lead! A lead which flattered him tbh.
New day, expect him to play/swing with more freedom. Just needs to find a feel early doors and free wheel.
Obv he could bomb out but my guts telling me he’ll play well.
Masters not quite gone to plan from a betting perspective..
Not pulling up any trees but suspect the winner comes from the final duo - more so by eliminating the chasing pack one-by-one.
Rory/Cam gets me out of jail. Sweating some top 20/30/40 bet builders which have been fun.
Masters outright:
Xander 20
Rahm 21
Straka 130
A few lesser lights in some of the finishing position markets:
Adam Scott
Michael Kim
Kurt Kitayama
That'll do, plenty of bets on for now..
@DatGoneIt77 Harris could be a side market play (T20/T40 etc) but have several in mind ahead of him.
BK of more interest, would sit in my ‘not without a chance’ category - although am struggling to see him in the green jacket, happy to pass at prices around the 50 mark..
Masters just round the corner, as always, looks an intriguing event. Current shortlist:
Rahm (already backed)
Xander
Bryson
Morikawa
Spieth
Straka (already backed)
Subject to change before flag fall..
@LongRon I missed the price on Young, one of my Augusta ‘regulars’ as well.
CM back is prob enough to put me off, despite drifting to a decent number.
Leaning X over Bryson at similar prices. Looks ready to me, reckon he’ll go v close.
Spieth usual conundrum, price a bit skinny atm
@DatGoneIt77 Nah, was thinking about him again last week but he was tipped up before I had a chance to back him.
Circa 23.0 around Sawgrass isn’t my bag. Plenty I quite fancy that are at least treble that price.
Not saying Aberg won’t play well, just no value in the price in my eyes.
Before I do my bollox at Cheltenham, thought I’d share a few Players thoughts.
Love the event - great course, great drama, a real leveller, just got to play well on the week.
Backing these three:
Fowler 70
Spieth 110
Theegala 110
Early thoughts on the Masters..
Scottie (not quite firing) and Rory (pressure of defending) currently look opposable.
Big Jon Rahm top of my list atm.
Quietly rattling up a succession of good scores over in Liv-land.
67,68,67,63 2nd Riyadh
68,63,66,71 2nd Adelaide
66,62 HK
Backed Ludvig last week and the bet was dead in the water after 3 holes. Played better as the week went on though.
Thought he was a big price at Pebble (60), out to 65/70 this week so have gone back in.
Riviera should be right up his street.
