better than to assume no training would occur. There was always something to be taught or something to be completed.
However, the focus on her thoughts shift back to the environment she walked on due to the steps becoming less than ideal for trekking.
There was the briefest glare at the ‘lil’ comment that was made. She wasn’t that much shorter. A few more seconds were dedicated to admiring the view leading to the forward stride in following.
Sage couldn’t help but wonder what the other had in mind for this trip. She knew ++
“Oh, don’t you worry your lil’ self over that. We’ll have plenty of time over the weekend for that.” Her gaze returned to the plateau above them. Had it just been her, she would have turned back to the base of the mountain and restarted the hike just to stick to her original —
“I’m sure we’ll have quite the view wherever we set up camp.” A faint smile flickered a moment. She knew there was to be some sort of training during this camping endeavor but she hoped there would be time to simply observe from the plateau.
The unexpected accelerated pace of their hike up the mountain was of no surprise. Sage was never one to lag behind even if she was usually the one covering her team’s six. Saskia’s stop being unprompted almost caused a brief bump but she adjusted to prevent such an occurrence. ++
Halfway up a mountain, the highest plateau just minutes away, and their base miles behind them, Saskia and @letalisfinis were making excellent time. After adjusting the straps to her pack, Saskia stopped in her tracks to look over her shoulder. The sun was not as low as she had —
It was difficult to maintain the grump of an attitude she had, but she kept on. For now. “How are we off schedule for something like camping?” A faint tilt of the head. She knew there was training to be had but it..was just camping after all.
“That’s right!” Her mood has not faltered for even a moment. “You know those mountains a few miles out? Desolate, cold — perfect for training. We’re already off schedule. Let’s get going.”
If words could cause pain, Sage may have preferred getting shot. Camping. She could only wonder where they would be headed. “Camping?” A brief grumble. Further attempting to free herself.
Queue her drink being sent flying as she’s tackled. Then as the duo hit the ground she grumbled.
Her source of caffeine had been eliminated and she now tried climbing her way from the tackle.
Another small huff, though this one was in a sense of defeat. Her right hand shifted to allow her fingers to softly drum against her left’s upper arm. Excitement found its way into her gaze as she stood as she was and she smiled just softly. “I agree.” A nod. “Lead the way?”
“There you go.” Saskia uncrossed her arms and set her hands on her hips. It was a little bit of work to get Sage to chuckle, but it was worth it. “Now, I heard there would be hot chocolate in the mess hall tonight. I think we should go before there’s a line.”
There was a faint movement in how she stood due to the nudge though her arms faintly loosened in their cross. The compliments were getting to her since she was in a moment where she allowed emotion. A faint shake of the head before the facade slowly shattered and she chuckled.
With a laugh she reached out and gently nudged Sage’s shoulder with her fist. The other’s grumpiness simply could not rub off on her. She was having too much fun for that. “Awh, stop with all grumpiness. A smile would look much nicer on you.”
The cross armed stance was mirrored though her weight was centered for now. She opened her mouth to try and give some sort of rebuttal but she was shut right down. An order was an order.
Another grumbly huff. “𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘦..”
“Oh, you are. Don’t bother denying it.” Her arms folded over her chest, and her sifted her weight to her right. Even when no longer lifting Sage up, she maintained her grin. “Really, don’t deny it. I’m making that an order.”
Another huff. “I think everyone is shorter than you.” It took a moment for her mind to be made up but the frown soon melted off. Then realization hit and her face warmed a touch. “I-I am not.”
“Shorter than me, so I think you qualify as little.” She held the other up for a few moments longer, then carefully set her down. “Now stop frowning. You’re too pretty to look so grumpy.”
“Lil? I am not 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦..” A grumble.
“I don’t think I need to lighten up that much, you’ve already got me in the air.” The scowl still remained but its edge eased.
A feigned pout replaced Saskia’s grin. “D’awh, is the lil’ corporal grumpy?”
She could only keep the pout up for so long. After a few seconds she was back to grinning a chuckling. “Come on, lighten up.”
The grin is met with a half grumpy scowl. “No, I am not.”
A brief huff from the nose as she was lifted higher. She had eased the tension that rolled over her from the shock of being lifted.
Saskia is grinning already. “What, still not used to all the uppies?”
Her arms are held as straight up as she possibly could, so that Sage was finally taller than her.
