Also doesn’t mention that Vancouver’s school enrollment has been declining for years. Or that the decision to keep all schools open in the face of this decline means less $ for things like making schools safe & accessible for disabled kids.

Disturbing to see the language of disability co-opted (as in, it’s amazing for kids with “sensitivities”) as a justification to keep it open when govt data shows that this school has a very low proportion of kids with designated disabilities compared to other larger schools.

@BigdBiggy @CTVVancouver Unfortunately a list does not appear to be publicly available. However it can be requested from the district. Many of the older schools have never been renovated for accessibility.

Let's talk some more about how our zoning pushes basements, with negative consequences.

These are the #TurnerStPassiveHouses, currently under construction on two identical lots.

Same zoning, but the accessible unit had to be 1000sf smaller than the unit with a basement.
