Making Sense of What is Happening in the World
Fighting #disinformation and mainstream bias.
A balanced perspective on the issues that matter you the most.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer says it's "nonsense" that the government is planning to shut pubs early
"Closing time is not gonna change, I can give you that guarantee"
[@LBC]
@UKLabour@Keir_Starmer All of this sounds promising.
What we need, however, is real action.
A worker's rights bill and serious legislation to control exploitative landlords and out of control rent needs to come next.
@PolitlcsUK Labour needs to get the debate about immigration under control, not fuel it.
Saying people are right about immigration means nothing without action.
Either do something concrete about immigration or actually lead on this issue - convince the country to move on.
#KeirStarmer and #RachelReeves have tried to bring some much needed optimism into their messaging at the #LabourConference.
We've all heard enough about how bad the Tories were. We all lived through it for 14 years.
Time for the #change that was promised.
Our country is coming to terms with an act so inexplicably vile.
Our thoughts are with the families at the heart of this unimaginable pain.
Let me be clear: the tiny, mindless minority in our society who provoked violent disorder on our streets will be made to face the full force of the law.
Pressure is seriously mounting on #Netanyahu to end the #Gaza war.
The #UN security council just voted 14-1 in favour of #Biden's plan to end the war, only a day after Benny Gantz quit the cabinet.
#Israel is straying further and further away from the international community.

The elections have resulted in a continuation of centrist neo-liberal dominance. There is no reason to fear the rise of the far right described by the #Mainstream media.

@guardian The right-wing gains in the EU elections is the culmination of several years of dissatisfaction with Macron.
He has reigned for 7 years. Like voters in the UK who are sick of the Tories, the French are running out of patience with Macron.
@jeremycorbyn The far right only made a small dent in centrist dominance in the European Parliament. Centrist parties still have a 56% majority.
The far right CAN be countered by individuals taking action, proposing solutions to political problems and pressuring representatives to adopt them.
The #Mainstream headlines today have emphasized the success of the far right in the EU elections.
The reality is that their gains have been marginal. The centrist bloc remains the overwhelming force with a large majority of 56%.

After taking a licking in South Africa’s election, the ANC will now almost certainly have to decide whether to lean towards pragmatism, by working with the Democratic Alliance—or to team up with a dangerous populist party https://t.co/AO1LNWhhWt 👇
