Last year, California spent $15.4 billion on prisons and $4.2 billion on higher education. Priorities! https://t.co/KGXkE0Bv0y #education#prison#massincarceration
What is the worst thing you have ever done? Write it on a sticker and put the sticker on the front of your shirt and wear it everywhere you go. Nothing you can ever do will cover that label up – everything is seen through that stain. This is a convict’s life – FOREVER
Are we going to educate, or incarcerate? Just finished the #reentry2030 launch event -> great advocacy from Nicole Jarrett, @MzDeHoskins, @ElgieSims and @DylanHayre. Inaction is a decision! Let's go forward reinventing #reetry from #prison with #education https://t.co/OEA4mip86L
@anterys Hi Sergio! We've been trying to get in touch with you for a while. Have a short question for you. Can you DM or share your email / a good way to get in touch? Thanks!
Over the past 15 months, demand from people in prison for Level's educational material has increased a whopping 100%+ every month. And we're still in stealth mode. What does this tell you? #prisoneducation#OER#creativecommons#education https://t.co/lExipSkhLx
@razorwiremedia1 How can you help? Not totally clear on what you offer / provide. Do you have a website? Not sure what #mcafee16 is. DM an email if that's easier. Thanks!
@womenwriterswin Sorry, just saw this. We ended up getting really lucky and convinced the CS Unplugged team in New Zealand to take on this project. They are the ones who originally wrote all the content and now they're working on adapting it for incarcerated adults. Super cool!!!
Are you experienced in #CSUnplugged and #ComputationalThinking? Level is hiring a contract writer to adapt CS Unplugged content for low income adults. Fill out the Join Level form at https://t.co/KlVV0G6V35 for more information.
@UCCSEd We messaged Tim Bell about this, but perhaps reaching out to you directly is easier. Could you RT our last post about hiring a contract CS Unplugged content developer? See https://t.co/KlVV0G6V35 and https://t.co/kNjdxKjOE4 for more details
🚨BIG ANNOUNCEMENT🚨
We are launching our next Level guide: Food Prep Certification! Job training resources are so crucial for helping prepare people to hit the ground running upon release, and we hope this guide will help them do exactly that.
Mail bans give incarcerated people and their families one more reason to use paid communication options like phone calls, video calls, and tablets. Private vendors always profit from these services - and often, they kick back some of the revenue to the prisons.
Last month Connecticut became the first state in the country to make prison phone calls free. It’s a huge victory for the incarcerated and their families and will transform the lives of children with incarcerated parents. Every single state should do this. https://t.co/rfZrgpjY07
“It’s no longer a luxury. This is serious. It’s really a social justice issue. It’s a 21st century civil rights issue.”
@CheptooKositany, advocate for closing the #digitaldivide, on the lack of reliable internet access for everyone.
