lunch time at Catcott Lows for me and a Cattle Egret yesterday. Mine was nice and the Cattle Egret probably thought his was nice. It promptly got heartburn. I did watching it.

As a macro photographer a female wolf spider with her spider babies on her back is โoneโ the best UK macro pics to get IMHO.
Yesterday I found my 1st of the year! Unfortunately not so many babies but itโs a start ๐
Iโve 8 females round the pond with eggs so hopefully more soon
Consider myself lucky to have seen 101 species of Hummingbird after visiting Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela, SE Brazil, Panama and Ecuador. Here's a few: Booted Racket-tail, Golden-tailed Saphire, Violet-tailed Sylph and White-bellied Woodstar.
Fabulous Male Emperor Dragonfly.. Sat low on a bramble stem its Blue abdomen gleamed like a jewel.. Not the best camouflage against its predators!!. @BDSdragonflies
Golden-winged Sunbird at the Dragon's Teeth, Aberdares, Kenya - this stormer is one of the best birds in Kenya and this male stayed for a few seconds allowing some great views:
Something I've not seen before in 50+ yrs of birding: So VERY CUTE, a Mute Swan carrying her cygnets on her back. For a short video click on the YouTube link below.
On YouTube because its in 1080p - only 720p on 'X'

A great final species to see on the pre-tour extension was a pair of Caspian Plover... Highly sought after over here in Kazakhstan but not seen in Astana since 2018, so a huge slice of luck! @naturetrektours
@rivers_disguise@alanashman5@RSPBHamWall@berrowbirder That's good Tara, happy for you ๐ฉท We're suffering in old age. Kay had compression fracture of her spine, March '25. The vertebra heals in broken postion, now lots of back ache. All my teeth except 3 broke off at the gum over 6wks, while brushing! Looking to be Grt GP's in July๐
Rare drake Blue-winged Teal @RSPBHamWall the 2nd record from here and only the 2nd in Somerset. Video taken looking directly into the very bright low evening sun at 20:15 hrs 29-May. Apparently it is mostly associating with a small group of distant Gadwall.
@rivers_disguise@alanashman5@RSPBHamWall@berrowbirder Hello Tara, Kay and I were only talking about you when we saw this bird, as we we away visiting famliy and missed your great find! Hope you and yours are well ๐
